* The javside with FOI wouldn't have the rare diadem and dungo like diamond/shadow because the bowside requires that extra 5% IAS to maintain functionality

* Rare Javelins with +IAS that hit harder than Eth Titans are impossible to find at this point

* It sounds like you are looking at things from a ZvZ oriented standpoint more so than ZvA.
Back when ZvA actually used to be competitive, you weren't able to stay on bowside often at all.
The most difficult duels against counter classes: BvA, Charger/Smiters, Ghosts, ect.. literally punished you for trying to swap to bowside at all.
In fact, it was debatable why in the hell you weren't just using two swaps of javside to be honest.
So in other words, the defense rare diadem and dungo on a sturdy javside setup was what allowed ladder climbing to top 3 ranks or maybe winning a fg tourney.
Without that defense, you absolutely could not keep up with the sustain of the hard melee counter classes.
Going for a bit of bow damage in sacrifice of critical sustain vs. counters was simply not a good idea, considering the bow wouldn't be able to be used often against them at all to begin with.

There were however 2 match ups that FOI or a solid GMB with Nos were better: Against Trappers and Necromancers.
Everything else I'm telling you, went to defensive javside play with high fury/bolt damage and OW play if needed to surpass blocks.

if you compare dia/shadow vs foi, it basically comes down to this:
assuming a good rare helm like 2zon/30frw/20dex/60life/20@res/2os (2x 15ias/40ed)

2zon skills, 120life vs. damage

the res can be made up in the form of swapping out 3max dmg charms for 5res ones
both zons will have the same ias bp(55ias bp) for jav throw, however the foi can hit the 90ias max jav throw bp if he puts 15ias jewel in stormshield(probably wouldnt though)

so is 2 zon skills and 120life really worth the loss of dmg?
in my analysis if these zons go head to head the life gain will not outweigh the dmg loss, like you said thats zvz though

however, I doubt that many duels end with the zon at less than 120 life
one must decide whats more beneficial to them

120life + 2 skills(1% higher dodge/evade/avoid) or more damage.

You know just as well as I do that 120 life on an Amazon can go a long way, considering the frequency of blocking/dodging/avoiding/evading
and also the ridiculous amount of life rep that an Amazon can front, especially ZvA specs that are not limited to the ZvZ 22 rep limit.

Hey if FOI works for you, go for it. At the end of the ZvA DII scene I had just seen more situations where that extra survivability
through diamond/shadow equates to a win, than a bit of extra bow damage. Again, the biggest factor here is how infrequently
you actually get to use that extra bow damage in ZvA matches, especially if they were against strong players in world ladder or fg duels.
Some aggressive build structures just demanded that a ZvA stayed javside almost 100% of the time and these were the duels that mattered.
They were the duels that were against your hard-counters. So it makes a player start figuring ways to tweak for that javside defense/offense
so that he has higher probability of success for engaging the hard counters, rather than worrying about the bowside. I found that
any build that allows you to bow against it "with the exception of other Bowazons" was going to lose anyway, regardless of if
you are wielding GMB Faith, FOI, Diamond/Shadow or even a Riphook. This is why I ultimately fashioned my ZvA build around
survival javside vs. hard-counters, rather than tweaked bowside damage.

But even so, if I did it all over again I would actually expand past the single character stash limit and create a mule to carry a glass GMB setup
with a lot of life/mana leech for vs. Druid/Necromancers/Trappers. I would also for once, carry an appropriate ZvZ setup ^^
I never did get anywhere in BowaPK while rocking that Diamond ZvA setup. To much res, not enough ranged DPS.
