This is simply what the title says, my 2016 sleepers for most positions. I tried my best to limit myself to only 3 guys per position. Let me know what you think and who some of your sleepers are.
Quarterbacks1) Kevin Hogan, QB, StanfordMost look at Hogan as a quality backup in the NFL and while that's not an awful thing I believe there might be more to him than that. He's very smart, above average accuracy and has a decent arm but does lack that elite arm strength. Given the proper coaching I believe with his very high IQ he'll be able to become a legitimate starting QB. So many Qbs come in and try to rely on their athletic skill but Hogan is on the other end of the spectrum.
Running Backs1) C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre DameProsise reminds me a lot of David Johnson, big body with surprising speed for his size and ball security concerns. DJ had trouble early in the year hanging onto the ball but quickly got that under control. Prosise is my #2 back in this draft behind Zeke and could end up being a huge steal for someone on day 2.
2) Daniel Lasco, RB, CaliforniaLasco has a good combination of size and surprising speed. He has good explosion and hits the hole with force (giggity). He missed 5 games this year because of injury so he's going to fall to day 3 most likely but without those injuries he's a second round prospect. He showed he's maintained his skill set at the combine but he'll fall regardless and someone is going to get a steal.
Honorable mentions: Keith Marshall, RB, Georgia; Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA; Jordan Howard, RB, Indiana
Wide Receivers1) Tyler Boyd, WR, PittsburghThis dude has the combination of size and speed, reliable and soft hands, can make all of the big plays, acrobatic catches and get separation. How he's not being ranked higher by others is crazy to me. He is my #1 top of the top receiver in this draft and will be a massive steal for whoever takes him, likely sometime on day 2.
2) Devon Cajuste, WR, StanfordCajuste isn't going to blow you away with his combine numbers and his stats from 2015 aren't all that impressive either, so why is he a sleeper? He's a big body with elite quickness, top end speed is average but his burst and quickness are incredible. He's an excellent route runner and could possibly be drafted by a team with the intention to have him bulk up some and play tight end. I don't mind that idea but he's not quite the 6'6'' that Gronk is or 6'7'' that Graham is so he's kind of a tweener at 6'3'', almost too tall for a WR but too short for that receiving tight end mold we've seen.
Honorable mentions: Paul McRoberts, WR, Southeast Missouri State; Jay Lee, WR, Baylor
Tight Ends1) Tyler Higbee, TE, Western KentuckyNow I just said that Cajuste has that kind of tweener size to him but Higbee has that more prototypical Gronk-esque build. He's a bit slower than Gronk and Graham were coming out of college but he's a better blocker than either of them were. I like Higbee a lot for a day 3 sleeper prospect that could pay off huge in the end.
Honorable mentions: None
Offensive Linemen1) Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre DameStanley is a sleeper in a sense. Most are putting this rather large gap between Tunsil and Stanley and that just is not the case. Stanley and Tunsil are very very close in talent. If Tennessee were to select Stanley at #1 overall over Tunsil, it would raise some eyebrows but it wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world.
2) Tyler Marz, OT, WisconsinThose Wisconsin lineman are usually tough mother fuckers and Marz is no exception. He handled Alabama's defensive line well in the season opener which is nothing but NFL talent. He's a bit of a project but he's definitely worth taking a flier on early on day 3.
3) Graham Glasgow, C, MichiganGlasgow is really my only sleeper interior lineman. Seems like all the guards are getting the proper credit but Glasgow is my #2 center behind Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama. He wasn't really even on my radar until the senor bowl where he was pretty much the only center who was banging with the top talent for interior dline and winning.
Honorable mentions: None
Defensive Ends1) Ebuka Onyemata, DE, Manitoba (Canada)Onyemata has some really good burst to go with a big body. He has a lot of natural talent but is definitely a project pick. He's one of those guys you want to take in the 4th round just to make sure you get a chance to develop him instead of waiting until the 5th or 6th and missing out.
Honorable mentions: None
Defensive Tackles1) Sheldon Rankins, DT, LouisvilleHe's the top of the top, #1 DT in this draft but some are saying he's #2 or even #3, that's just fucking crazy.
Honorable mentions: None
Pass Rushing Linebackers1) Kamalei Correa, LB, Boise StateCorrea had one hell of a combine and looked really good. He's a bit light right now for the NFL so he'll likely find his home inside of a 3-4 and be used as a pass rusher occasionally. I like him as a full blown 3-4 pass rusher. He will add weight and be able to make a living getting to the QB.
2) Tyrone Holmes, DE/OLB, MontanaHolmes is a pass rushing monster. Even when he was given better competition he still was able to shine and show he's worthy of a draft pick. He's not a 3 down LB though so it'll be difficult to take him earlier than day 3. Someone may fall in love and take him in round 3 but he's likely a day 3 project pick.
Honorable mentions: Victor Ochi, DE/OLB, Stony Brook; Josh Perry, DE/OLB, Ohio State; Alex McCalister, DE/OLB, Florida
Insider Linebackers1) Josh Forrest, ILB, KentuckyForrest is a big boy who is excellent in run support and decent in pass coverage. He's much more athletic than anyone would think by just looking at him. He's a sure tackler who can rush the passer from the inside position as well.
2) Blake Martinez, ILB, StanfordMartinez is a sure tackler who has good speed and instincts. He might be considered a little small but he's energetic and flies all over the field. He can cover and help in run support plus he's got a very high football IQ so he could be the quarterback of your defense.
Honorable mentions: Tyler Matakevich, LB, Temple; Kris Frost, ILB, Auburn; Denzel Duvall, LB, Alabama
Cornerbacks1) Williams Jackson III, CB, HoustonLike Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh and Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville, Jackson is the best at his position and not getting the credit he deserves. Although some are giving him a first round grade finally, Jackson deserves to be the top corner selected this year. The biggest knock on Jackson right now is that he's a bit light at 190lbs. You'd like to see him get to that 210 range. He has the frame to do it so if he can do so and carry the weight he's going to be a monster. He's got incredible coverage skills, is extremely fast, has good ball skills and can tackle well.
2) Sean Davis, CB, MarylandDavis is a smart corner with good size and speed. He's a sure tackler who is great in run support as well. He could work on his all around coverage skills a bit but with his natural ability, you draft this guy on day 3 (late day 2 if you have to) and let your coaches do work with him.
3) Eric Murray, CB, MinnesotaI just had to do 3 corners. Murray is a bit shorter but he has some great strength to go with that stature and is still quick and fast. He all but shut down Josh Doctson when they played TCU but did struggle some against Ohio State. Murray is the kind of guy you want to pair up with your Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, etc etc. He probably won't ever reach that level but he'll look like he's playing at that level next to an elite corner.
Honorable mentions: KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame; Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU; Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA
Safeties1) Keanu Neal, FS, FloridaThis is another guy who's ranked high in his position but not getting the credit he deserves. Much like Tunsil/Stanley, most are saying there is a significant gap between Jalen Ramsey, FS, Florida State and Keanu Neal. Actually Neal is right behind Ramsey. Neal isn't quite as athletic as Ramsey but he's a big, strong, physical safety with good instincts, ball skills, can cover receivers, tight ends and backs and can recover well. He plays the ball in the air well too. If the Titans take Ramsey at #1, whoever takes Neal will probably end up having the final laugh.
2) DeAndre Houston-Carson, FS, William & MaryAll this kid did in his college career was make tackles and defend passes. He was very very consistent throughout his career and made some people pay attention at the Senior Bowl. He had some down moments at the Senior Bowl as well that I can't overlook but he's definitely worth a day 3 selection and will immediately contribute on special teams but could end up starting his rookie season depending on the situation he goes into.
Honorable mentions: Jordan Simone, SS, Arizona State; T.J. Green, FS, Clemson
