I'm going to rank and give a quick analysis of some of the top talents per position in this year's draft. I am going to make a new thread for each position and will keep old threads listed in each new thread.
Keep in mind, this is purely my opinions. I am not saying this will be the order, this will be how players turn out or anything along those lines, it's just simply my own personal thoughts.
If you'd like a specific position to be done next, feel free to post, I don't mind jumping around. If not, I'll go in order (QB, WR, RB, TE, OT, etc...)
Anyway, as always, rate, hate and critique your hearts out.
CenterKeep in mind that with pretty much all centers can be used in the way that the Falcons used Peter Konz. When Konz was drafted, he was the top center in the draft. Falcons used him at guard at first and moved him to center. So, just remember, the majority of these guys can all play guard too.
1) Bryan Stork, C, Florida StateStork and Swanson are really 1a and 1b. I personally like Stork a bit more, no real reasoning behind it, I just do. Either or will be a great center in the NFL. Anyway, Stork is an elite run blocker, great at opening holes and knocking would be defensive lineman on their asses. He’s an above average pass blocker but has shown improvement every year. One thing to note is that Stork did have a concussion this year, after seeing how concussions just destroyed the career of Ryan Swope this past offseason, I’ve taken a greater concern with drafting young guys who have had them. I would never not draft a guy for that, but I’d be more cautious.
2) Travis Swanson, C, ArkansasHere’s my favorite thing about Swanson. He was called a dirty player in college. That shit just thrills me in an offensive lineman. Line guys on both sides of the ball need to be dirty and fight because that’s just how it is. Swanson is athletic, can pull when needed, good in run and pass blocking. Honestly, Swanson should probably be my #1 but I just have a man crush on Stork.
3) Weston Richburg, C, Colorado StateRuchburg is a reliable run and pass blocker. He could benefit from adding some weight for the NFL but overall he’s a very solid and safe pick. He’ll do well from playing at guard for a bit when he first starts off his NFL career, learn the pace of the game before moving to a more crucial position like center.
4) James Stone, C, TennesseeStone is a good developmental prospect. I think he’ll be best fit moving to guard and staying there rather than trying to play center but he does have some nice natural ability for the position.
5) Russell Bodine, C, North CarolinaBodine intrigues me. He has all the natural ability to be an elite interior linemen, good size, athleticism and above average pass protector but only an average run blocker. He has the skill to start from day one but he has a lot of room for improvement.
6) Tyler Larsen, C, Utah StateLarsen is my biggest sleeper at center. He was very reliable for Utah State and is an elite run blocker. He definitely has room for improvement in his pass blocking ability but he can be serviceable and learn on the job. His best bet will be to go somewhere that isn’t in desperate need of interior line help right away, where he can learn a bit before being thrown into the game.
7) Gabe Ikard, C, OklahomaIkard was expected to rise as an elite prospect. While he had a solid year, he didn’t really improve from last year. Ikard’s biggest upside as of now is that of all the centers, he is probably the best guard of the group so that versatility will help him.
8) Jonotthan Harrison, C, FloridaHarrison is an average player. Nothing spectacular, but not horrible either. He needs to bulk up for the NFL if he ever wants to be more than a guy on the depth chart.
