This is weird because Biden is governing in a more progressive way than most people expected. And Biden doesn't control what the Supreme Court does.

America is a centrist country... nobody who you would approve of as president can get elected.

America is a centrist country so middle right Biden is significantly to the right of that.

America wants reasonable gun control, national healthcare, and higher taxes on the wealthy. Biden doesn't fight for any of that.

I think political reality matters more than a majority of Americans supporting some vague position at the polls.

Yeah, we have a political reality where people can agree with leftist ideas like national healthcare but will then vote against the more liberal candidate because commercials ran saying they are communist.

The biggest thing we can learn from American political reality is how easy it is to manipulate the American public with crap propaganda.

As the saying goes: "the devil is in the details" - it's not hard to find majority support for a vague, good-sounding policy in a poll. Finding majority support for a concrete bill which spells out all the costs and downsides, the winners and also the losers, is an entirely different story.

Regarding the examples you gave: Americans' understanding of 'reasonable' gun control or higher taxes on the 'wealthy' differs wildly. For an NRA member, "reasonable" gun control means that people should not be allowed to open carry flamethrowers or rocket launchers...
