Been a while since my last update!
I have been doing a lot of travel this summer.

Some for work, some for fun.
But it hasn't left a ton of time for thrifting.

My last trip was just one state over..
I was travelling solo so decided to hit up some thrifts on my drive.
Always wanted to do that, but never have before!

Found a couple nice things :) :

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 - GameCube
Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2 - PlayStation 2

A couple so-so grabs.

But it is definitely nice to get a new GameCube game!
Am I particularly interested in playing it?
Well... I dunno!

I like golf games.
But I haven't played any 'sim' style ones like this.
Tbh, I wanted this game for just how weird it is.

A 2 disc EA sports game?
Like wtf? haha
I have a lot of love for the GameCube.
But games like this are a prime example why it failed in its day.
Multi-plat games struggled to get their content on the console.
Kudos to Nintendo and EA for trying
I think it is an interesting game for those reasons.

And a cheap GameCube game I don't have?
Got to grab it lol

Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2 is a pretty uncommon game!
Not necessarily a valuable game..
But one you don't see often.

I dare say this could be a 'hidden gem'.
Unfortunately, I don't have a way to play it right now T_T
But I can really enjoy racing games.

Tokyo Extreme Racer is a notable franchise.
The DC games are wonderful!
Really need to pick those up...
And video play of this game seem really interesting.

It has a nice selection of Japan cars from the 80's and 90's.
Some really unique stuff you don't see in other games.
It also has some light RPG elements (for a racing game anyway).
I watched a review that likened it to an Initial D game.
I can definitely see that.

Sadly, the cover art is water damaged and has some mold..
Didn't notice when I picked it up <_<

Not sure what I will do with it.
Not worth enough to sell it in its current state.
Maybe I will fix my backwards compatible PS3
Or maybe just trade it in to my LGS.

Trickstyle - Dreamcast
Breakdown - Original Xbox

I am happily surprised by Trickstyle.
It is a way better game than it should be.

Really, anything published by Akklaim should be a red flag.
But this game is actually not so bad.

It feels like a precursor to the SSX series.
It controls well and feels good to play.
My only complaint is it can be difficult to latch on to a rail.
But to be fair, I feel that way about the SSX games.

Overall, a decent little budget game for the DC!
Happy to have it :)

Really happy to find a cheap copy of Breakdown!
Sure it is missing the manual..
But I found it way cheaper than it goes online.
Tbf, online prices are not steep.
But I started playing Xbox to find those sweet deals.
Moreover, Xbox games are typically outside my normal rotation..

Breakdown is a FPS/brawler with an over-the-top scifi story.
Not the type of games I normally play..
But it is whacky enough that it has been on my radar!
Look forward to playing this one.

Krazy Racers - GBA

I've known of this game for a while..
But I'm surprised to see how much it is going for these days.
All GBA (and retro stuff in general) has gone up.
But $40 for a loose copy of Krazy Racers?
geeze.

In this condition, it is definitely not worth that.
But still a ~$20 scoop.

This game definitely has some notoriety.
It is a MarioKart clone featuring Konami characters.
I'm pretty sure it even released before MK GBA.

It is a neat game, I must admit.
Is it a clone of another game? yes.
But in some ways, I think it is a superior clone.

At the end of the day, this will be flipped
Mario Kart (and Krazy Racers) is fun..
But best played with couch co-op with friends.
I can't imagine myself getting too much play out it.
Plus, selling it will pretty much recoup my money on this lot :)

Got these games for $22.
No complaints here!

What an awesome thread to come across.

I still have some of my old favourite DC titles:

Shenmue, PSO, MSR, MVC2, CVS2, Record of Lodoss War, Grandia II (Japanese alt art disc version), etc.

Was surprised to see someone with DUX.

Great collection!

Hey ya'll! Sorry for the lack of updates...
I got locked out of my account and finally figured out how to log back in.

Besides, I haven't had too many pickups lately.
But I have a few new things which motivated me to get it figured out lol

In other news, I expect my updates to maybe slow down a bit:

1) I recently got engaged! So I have been kind of busy lol
I probably won't be thrifting quite as often as I am saving up for a wedding.
Just have less spare cash to be adding stuff to my backlog...
But that doesn't mean I will stop, hah

2) I am also moving in August.
This is still a good ways out, obviously.
But I'm feeling the urge to pair down a bit.
I'm not gonna sell off my collection or anything.
But I'm seriously considering moving off some odds and ends.
I will likely say goodbye to my Sega Saturn. RIP T_T

Anywho, my Birthday was in late September!
I got a few gaming gifts :) :

Fzero Gx - GameCube

A game I have wanted for a long time!
Also one that I have been kicking myself about for not grabbing while it was cheap.
It's not crazy, but it was sitting at $30 for a long time.

Well, my lovely fiancé got me this game <3
She has really cash rolled a lot of my more expensive games lol
She is not a gamer herself, so it is something I really appreciate!

Fzero Gx is a futuristic racer.
The last entry in the Fzero franchise.
Crazy to think that Nintendo has left the franchise fallow for so long.
But this was a highlight to go out on.

It's super fast and super hard.
But looks and plays amazing.
It was also outsourced to Sega which is kind of hard to believe.
But as a Sega fanboy, it makes me love this game even more.
Happy to finally have a copy!

My uncle also gave me a Visa giftcard.
Decided to pickup a couple cheap Xbox games:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - Original Xbox
Burnout 3 - Original Xbox

Two games in franchises I love.

As much as I like the original Metal Gear, It's the only one I have played.
Well, I have played both the PS1 and GameCube Twin Snakes version..
But I always think of those games as some of my favorites.

Don't know why I never got the second one.
At the time, I was playing a lot of PS2.
Just never picked it up.
Well, now I finally get my chance!

The 'Substance' subtitle denotes that this is an expanded version.
I guess they added more content like side-missions and whatnot.
Don't really know the details.
But it is also just weird to me to get this on the Xbox.
I always think of Metal Gear as a PlayStation game.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that I have the GameCube entry lol

The Burnout games are some of the best arcade racers out there.
I love the first and second ones..
Unfortunately, the 3rd entry never came to GameCube.
So good thing I have an Xbox now!

I've played this game with friends back in the day.
It is great, maybe the best in the franchise.
(Although, I haven't played all of them).
Never got a chance to play through the entire game though.
Really looking forward to it :)

Gunvalkyrie - Original Xbox

I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy Xbox.
While I had one as a kid, I didn't play much other than Halo.
I used to think the whole vibe of the console was kind of cringey.
You know, let's chug mountain dew and kill hookers in GTA.

But the more I learn about Dreamcast's impact on the console..
The more I find to love about it.

Gunvalkyrie is a game that was supposed to launch on the Dreamcast..
But of course, that is not where it ended up.
The original design sounded pretty ambitious.
I guess you would play with both a control and a gun con.
Use the joy stick to move around in one hand.
Use the gun con to aim and shoot with the other.
That is not what they did here however lol

Gunvalkyrie is arcade-like run and gun with a ton of Sega flair.
Fly around in weird mech-like suits.
Shoot endless waves of aliens.
But the control scheme kind of sucks here.
It uses the click of the control sticks to dash.
Kind of clunky to be honest.

But as a fan of the Dreamcast, I can live with bad controls lol
Only messed around with this game a little bit.
But I'm excited to dig deeper!

A nice set of gifts to add to my backlog.
Happy (late) birthday to me! ^_^

Sorry for the month late reply (was locked out of my account).
You have a killer list of Dreamcast games and I'm always happy to find another fan :)

Dreamcast is what got me into the retro scene.
I had one as a kid but only played a few of the more popular titles.
Around 2014 I dug out the system and bought MVC2..
I've been played old games ever since haha

I have 63 Dreamcast games (which is like ~25% of all NA releases).
But there is still so many more titles I want to get my hands on! haha

It has an amazing library for a 'failed' console

It's been slim pickings at my usual thrift spots.
I think Goodwill has stopped putting out games..
And Half Price Books has been bare for months.

I have kind of pivoted to hit up more pawn shops.
It's often harder to find dirt cheap stuff.
But every now and then, I find something with some meat on it.

Here are a couple recent pickups from a local pawn:

Elden Ring - Playstation 4

Is this the most current game I've ever picked up??
It's definitely not retro lol
Was kind of shocked to find it.
Especially at an affordable price.

I have been trying to learn more about PS4 games.
Most pawn shops have a ton of them...
And most of them are dirt cheap too.

I don't have a PS4.
But I'm happy to flip a PS4 game for something I want.
Elden Ring is new enough that it still holds some value.

Wrestlemania 2000 (CIB) - N64

It's pretty rare that I find N64 stuff.
This is also the first time I've picked up one CIB!

I actually don't like the N64..
I think it has aged pretty poorly.
There are definitely some bops on the system.
But as a whole, there isn't much that interests me.
At least, the ones that do interest me I can play elsewhere.

But how could I not pick this up??
It was only $10!
It was so cheap I even asked if they were just selling the box.
Happy to find out it was a complete copy.

Sure the box is kind of beat up..
But it's hard enough to find CIB N64 stuff.
This is definitely worth more than $10.

It's also just cool to see the packaging.
There is even a neat lenticular image on the back:

It doesn't show up well on camera lol

Definitely one of my more interesting scoops!
Got both of these for $20

Congratz on the engagment and your birthday.

What a great present! I played so much F-Zero on SNES as a teen.
I also like the MGS. I don't like stealth games anymore, but back in the day i would replay them to get all the dogtags.

Keep it up and always looking on updates <3

Thank you!

F zero is a great! I am mostly familiar with the N64 version, but the SNES game is really fun!

I’ve been playing Gx lately and it is tough. But it is nice to have a game I can slowly grind away at in between rpgs and what not 🙂

Couple new pickups!

Battalion Wars - GameCube

I've had the case for this game for a while..
Decided to pickup the disc to complete my copy!

Actually, I bought this from my LGS.
and it came with the cover art anyway! haha
It was pretty much cheaper than just getting a loose copy only.

No problem...
I have a few extra cover arts and manuals floating around.
Mostly things I already have or aren't worth completing.
I think I'm going to try to sell those..
So maybe I can recoup some money there??

Anyway, happy to get a copy of Battalion Wars!
It is a spiritual successor to Advance/Famicom Wars.
To be honest, I don't like the direction this game took.
I'm a much bigger fan of turn base RPG than real time tactics..
But ya know, this is a 'notable' GameCube game.
One that has been missing from my collection.

Although it is not exactly my favorite genre..
It is at least a short game (~8 hours to complete).
At that length, I will definitely give it a play through :)

Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Playstation 3

I had no idea this got a PS3 release!
I think this came out a full year after the PS4.
Kind of crazy to think about.
I thought Sony was quick to abandon the PS3.
Guess not!

I love the RE series!
I didn't grow up with them.
But I've really enjoyed the ones I've played since starting this blog :)

However, I got this to flip.
Picked it up at a pawnshop on the cheap.
Most RE games on that generation aren't worth much.
This one has held some value.
In fact, this is more expensive than the PS4 release!

It seems like a cool game..
But I don't really play PS3 much.
Can't play everything, ya know?

Got these two games for $17

Money spent: $3393
Total Sales: $3368
Profit: -$25
