Couple new pickups:

NFL 2K in an NFL Blitz Case - Dreamcast
NBA Showtime on NBC (Missing Manual) - Dreamcast

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I saw these and passed them up.
Well... they were still there when I revisited that flea market lol

There is like no value here.
But it is just hard for me to pass up DC games.
Especially when they are $1 each.

Unfortunately, I already have NBA showtime on NBC.
A great budget game, btw.
It is essentially NBA jam on the DC.
I don't know why they changed the name?
Did they lose the license?
It is still published by Midway so I don't understand.
Maybe they thought the NBA Jam name was washed up.
There are so many iterations of that game..
But it is still a classic!

I am really bummed that NFL Blitz was not in the case. -_-
However, I don't think the case and manual are a bad pickup themselves.
It shocks me that this game complete is like $30+
Don't get me wrong, I love NFL Blitz.
In fact, I think NFL Blitz 2000 is my most played DC game.
(Imo, the DC version is the best, but I won't get into that here lol)
But $30 is a lot for a sports game, even a great one!

For $1, I figured it is worth grabbing it.
Maybe I will get a good deal on a disc only copy?
At the very least, I think I can flip it for ~$15 :)

Couple other new pickups from my LGS:

Halo 2 - Original Xbox

Monster Hunter Tri - Wii

A couple 'common' games.
But some I'm happy to add to my library :)

Halo 2 needs no discussion.
It is one of the greatest games ever made.
I lost many hours playing on Xbox live with this game back in the day
I had a blast replaying Halo 1 recently.
I am really looking forward to revisiting the campaign!

I have never played a Monster Hunter game.
I know it is a huge franchise in Japan..
And I also know this Wii game is divisive.
People consider it a 'shallow' game in the MH series.
But, it is also one of the more in-depth RPGs for the Wii.
I had a friend who played it back in the day and enjoyed it.
I am looking forward to checking it out.

Although I have a couple RPGs in my backlog right now..
So who knows when I will finally get to it
But I am still trying to build up my Wii library.
Been having a lot of fun with that console lately..
This is a game that is not hard to find for a good deal.
BUT it is also wouldn't shock me if it climbs in price down the road..
Happy to get it now!

I traded in a few games + $4 to snag these two.
Kind of a decent stack, but nothing worth flipping individually.

Here is what I traded in:
Yugioh Dawn of Destiny - Xbox
NBA showtime on NBC (Missing Manual) - Dreamcast
NFL 2k (Disc Only) - Dreamcast
Worms (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
Grand Slam (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
Tetris Plus (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
Tomb Raider Chronicles (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
Test Drive Off Road (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
007 Tomorrow Never Dies (Disc Only) - Playstation 1
Namco Anniversary (Disc Only) - GameCube

Really, just a lot of odds and ends.
Just happy to turn these into games I actually want to play!

I am overdue for the yearly update of my collection!
I normally try to do this around May..

This is now year 5 and my collection has grown a ton!
So I'm going to do this a little different this time around:

First, I've done this so long now that I've lost track of what came from where.
Specifically, I started thrifting for games about 6 months before starting this thread.
It now seems like a chore to sift through and figure out what has been documented here..
I also have some games I kept from childhood.
In the past, I have separated those from my thread here.
But I don't want to do that anymore.

Second, I have so many games that I have had to pack stuff in storage.
Not a ton of things.. But I don't have unlimited space.
My games live in my living room and I try to keep them organized and not cluttered.
I don't have a "game room" (frankly, I don't want one).
But I have had to make some decisions about what to keep out.
More or less, I only leave out the game systems I play the most.
(So no Genesis, GameBoy, PS2, etc. etc. etc.)

Long story short, this post will be my 'overall' collection.
In other words, the games that are ready to play at any moment.
If you came to my house, you could play any of these items with no setup or hassle.

I want to make sure I am transparent here:
This is NOT my entire collection (about 98% of it though).
This was NOT ALL purchased at my current investment of -$23 (95% of it was though).
This IS, however, the heart and soul of my collection :)

Anywho, here is my updated collection:
(This will be a two part post).

200 Nintendo GameCube Games:

61 Sega Dreamcast Games:

41 Nintendo Wii Games:

18 Playstation 1 Games:

12 (Disc Only) Sega Saturn Games:

8 Original Xbox Games:

Geez, I feel overwhelmed when I do these yearly updates.
I have really amassed quite a few games! 😅

Last couple years have been really focused on GameCube..
But I'm a little burnt out on the system.
The games have become expensive, and I've felt burned by it.
Buying Eternal Darkness for $85 kind of soured me.
I liked the game, but not enough for that price point.
Unfortunately, most of the games I want now are not cheap.
I think collecting for that system will slow down a bit.
But I won't pass up a good GC deal lol :)

The original Xbox has been the newest system..
But I don't have plans to collect too heavily for it.
There are a few games I still want.
But the overall library is not really my jam.
Still having fun with it though!

Where I hope to invest my gaming energy this next year is Wii and DC.
I have been having a lot of fun with those systems lately!

But overall, I think my collecting will slow down a bit.
Tbh, it already kind of has.
I have so many games now and many games I still haven't played.
As prices get more expensive and deals harder to come by...
I'm hoping this next year will be about finishing all the games I want to play :)

~here's to hoping for another year of good deals~

One of my favorite thrift spots is going out of business :(

They are clearing out inventory so everything was half off.
Although it had mostly been cleared out.
It is in a small town next to mine so I only occasional get over there.
Sad I didn't get there earlier.
Either way, I left with a couple decent pickups:

Acecombat 3: Electrosphere - Playstation 1

I have just a tiny bit of nostalgia for this series.
As a kid, I had a demo disc with the original ace combat.
I remember it being too complicated for my small brain.
Instead I spent most of my time playing the Toomba demo lol
It's funny to think how much play I got out that demo disc.

Anyway, I almost didn't pick this up.
But I was surprised to find out this game has some value.
Only like $25 or so... but still!
I would have guessed it was a cheap blah PS1 game.

Kind of a bummer it has the rental sticker on it.
Also the manual is missing a good chunk of the center pages <_<

This is going to the resale pile.
I might pop it in first to see how it is though.
I have a couple 'air combat' games already...
However I have barely played any of them T_T
I should give them a chance.
Maybe it is a genre I actually like?

Champions of Norrath (Disc Only) - Playstation 2

Never played this one..
But I know a little bit about it!
It is a hack-and-slash game set in the Everquest universe.
Pretty cool if you ask me!
I am a little too young to be an EQ player.
But my older brother played it a ton!
Lots of memories watching him run around lol

This game is also noteworthy for the graphics.
It looks absolutely great.
It was developed by the same team that did Dark Alliance.
So it is really no surprise this is a quality game.
I am a big fan of Dark Alliance.
Similar game in a different universe??
I am intrigued...

Nevertheless, this is going in the resale pile haha
I don't like to keep disc only games.
And I'm not that interested in collecting PS2 games.
Actually, I don't really have a setup to play them right now.
My backwards compatible PS3 stopped playing PS2 games.
It's been on my to-do list to fix it... <_<

Alien Trilogy (Disc Only) - Playstation 1

Another game I've never played!
I don't know much about it.
But I look forward to checking it out!

From what I can tell, it is a horror(ish) first person shooter.
The PS1 often has pretty lackluster FPS games..
But this one actually looks good! haha

I really enjoyed the Alien movies!
I think there is some fun to be had here.
..even if the gameplay is just mediocre lol

Got these games for $15
Overall, not bad!

Got any pics of your collection? I bought most of my stuff quite a while back from garage sales and flea markets. Its crazy how much more stuff is worth today vs 10 years ago.

You have a very nice and clean setup!
I don't have many cartridge games, but I have always appreciated the aesthetic of the custom cases for them.
Makes it look uniform and easy to find what you are looking for.

In my current home, I don't have room to keep everything in one spot.
I mean, I guess I do, but it would make it super clutter.
I hope one day to have a setup like you :)

PS1 has a killer library!
It is fun to revisit the games you loved as kid. :)
