Finding the egg instantly makes you not only the most wealthy, but arguably the most powerful person on the planet.

Literally everyone that’s physically & financially able is actively looking for it.

If it is too challenging for players, it's not achievable. Additionally, not everyone is successful at video games.

You could become extremely wealthy by purchasing a $2 lottery ticket too.

People in real life settle for low paying jobs because they don't want to exert themselves to their max potential, or they are happy with their common life. I don't see this being any different in Ready Player One.

Remember, the Oasis is a place where you can do anything. The movie suggests that many people are logging on just to fill voids in their lives, and find an escape.

Again, finding the egg will eternally change that individuals life, literally more so than any other thing possible could. They will become a God. The most wealthy, influential, powerful & famous person on the planet. Forever immortalized. Nobody’s going to think, gee, that reward isn’t worth the risk or time involved.

Could you run the world though, because that’s what will happen if you find the egg.

Nobody is content in this world though, they have nothing. Nothing. However if they find the egg...they’ll have literally everything.

I respectfully disagree on all your points.

I don’t believe everyone is searching for the egg. I do believe that a large percentage continue to use the oasis as intended.

Only one person can win, the odds are not in everyone’s favor.

Now on the other hand, I do believe that all users are very interested in seeing the egg captured.

The movie fucks it up because the first challenge was found and people were playing it for years. It makes no sense for people to give up. In the book people lost interest in the hunt because literally no one could actually figure out the first clue. I don't see why they went the way they went in the movie.

They could have had the main character find the first challenge and beat it (renewing interest in the hunt) like the book does... There is literally no reason for them to have gone the way they did.

Also they could have shown z and arty meet eachother after z finds the first key and art could be upset because she has been trying to beat the race for weeks.

You literally just change that 10 minute section of the movie and it becomes significantly better because you have actual character development.

You show off that arty is actually the best gunter (as she is). You get development of their relationship because she respects z as a gunter, even playful banter between the two.

But nope, instead we get arty throwing herself into obvious death simply because we need to see the main character save the girl so a relationship can start because that's so fucking realistic and enjoyable. Then some boring trivia back and forth between the two to establish them as nerds, rather than establishing that by having them SOLVE THE FUCKING PUZZLE.

People can lose interest because of difficulty. When you die, you lose all your coin/the ability to buy a car.

I want you to think about all the things we don’t know. We don’t know how often the race occurs, we don’t know how often each character actually participated in the race.

Z apparently follows art on social media and now suddenly meets her out of the blue.

I feel like you are missing the point. Whether intentionally or not in not sure.

What exactly is the point you’re making though ? That eventually, for whatever reason, some people stopped looking ?

Yes, because that to me is the obvious assumption.

I do not believe that the majority of people continuously search for the egg as you propose.

I’m not missing the point. You/we don’t know all the details revolving around the oasis, so it’s hard to discuss what could or could not have happened.
