No -> Job can't be done at home anyway.

That being said, I'm barely going to work anyway (only 5 hours last week, probably 4 this one). Almost all of my patients cancelled their appointments, unfortunately.

Im responsible for a hotel. Luckily we’re doing a renovation so while we close down the hotel due to corona, I’ll have stuff to do in regards to the Reno. Can’t do it from home but deemed “essential” by the local government lol.

can work from home, am not atm.

CFO is a blowhard who doesnt want to stop production for even a day to set up remote logins and work out scheduling.

it's ok tho, the governor requires u to ask permission to stay open. and my CFO didn't because he's lazy. so i just anon filed a complaint to the governors office with insider data on what customers were servicing right now, none are essential atm, so am hoping he gets fined and we get shut down for good until this is over. no remote working, just an unpaid vacation.

fuck em.

I work remote, but rent an office. Still working out of the office rental, can't really get things done in my THOW with the wife around 24/7 and the shoddy patchy rural internet service. Will probably continue to commute and work out of the office unless things get REALLY bad locally.

You have to be a sociopath to thrive in a lot of professions.

I've taken roles in social work that have killed all my empathy because of the coldness necessary.

You go into a profession to help people in that turns out there's all this social control....

.... I think a lot of professions are like that.

The good news is the more you level up the more the shit you get to delegate.

I'm a self employed physiotherapist.

The majority of patients I treat are healthy people who can live without their usual sessions. Most of them are middle-high class people who practice running/padel/tennis/golf/etc in their free time... but they take it seriously enough to want to come to me in order to make sure they perform at their peak, without any pain. They really appreciate my work, but at the end of the day I'm not a top tier priority for them. Even more considering that practicing sport is banned now.

Also, many of them are scared of contracting the disease. And the government is also stressing that people only leave their homes when it's absolutely necessary. Even some patients that are in the middle of a recovery, like a sprain or whatever, have cancelled their sessions.

So, the reason I'm only doing 4-5 hours a week now, is because only a handful of patients are still willing to schedule appointments.

I don't know the details of what the Spanish government has proposed but I'm sure there will be a provision for self employed people who've lost out.

Self employed workers that are forced to shut down by the State of Emergency order (shop owners, hotel and restaurant workers, etc), are entitled to government aid.

The rest of us will only be able to access that provision if we voluntarily shut down AND we can prove next month that our earnings in March were less than 25% of our average earnings based on the previous semester.

I had been increasing my earnings over the past months, and considering that I took off some days for xmas and that January is a weak month because people have less money to spend, I had already earned more than 25% of my average earning by the time the State of Emergency was declared on the 13th of March. I expect to end the month at 40% of my usual income, which is really bad, but not enough to receive the aid. I'll face a really shitty April, with basically no income and no government aid to compensate. In May, I'll be able to claim that my earnings in April were below 25% of my average, and I'll get a monthly welfare once if I shut down. But if the situation has improved by then, then I might not even be interested in shutting down...

And I'm definitely not in the worst situation possible, because my work was paying off well and I had began saving up a bit. However, I have a lot of friends that are going to be in serious financial trouble.
