So? The US is still a more free and desirable society than China. That China is able to inflict self-censoring and submissive behavior onto its citizens and consequently doesnt have to rely on high incarceration rates to keep them in check speaks to the efficiency of their oppression system.

Bullshit, my chinese mates here in australia have as much freedom to say anything they want as anyone else here.
They all support the republic, china is a great place to live for many people and a horrible one for many, its the same as the usa, the freedom you all value so much is an illusion.
