We've been seeing an increasing flashpoint in China threatening western companies into censorship on their behalf, and the almighty dollar has made it clear where the companies stand: Firmly under the yoke of their communist masters
The NBA scandal has been raging for a few days, with Daryl Morey being forced to flagellate himself in apology and rescind his free speech
South Park stood strong and just straight up told China to go fuck itself and accepted that it would be banned, getting scrubbed from behind the Great Chinese Firewall
Apple warbled and tried very hard to stay back 10 feet and first banned the protest app and then re-allowed it, no doubt making everyone suspicious about it.
And just today, a Heartstone Esports player was kicked out of the pro scene and had his championship prize pool winnings confiscated after he voiced support for the Hong Kong protests on the stream.

China celebrating 70 years of communist rule of the mainland by starting out the next 70 years of communist rule of the rest of the world

Money talks. Been that way since the first coin was minted and it'll be that way til we're all dust.

Seems a bit gay to get wound up about it now.

When somebody has money and you want to sell them something you self censor. Happens when selling labor to your manager all the way up to getting slices in foreign markets.

However I fully support the Chinese people pressuring their government of they want these products anyway.

These situations represent a reversal from the previous way of doing business.

In the US, 'money talks' has meant that the corporations were able to control the government (because the corporations had more money). But the Chinese government has found a way of making corporations endorse the narrative the government wants.

China has executed a power move and they are changing the way the game is being played. This is incredibly significant.

Yes.

Euros like to complain about 'Team America World Police'

But when the US' brand of policing has been replaced by China's brand, they will be pining for the good old days when capitalist ideology was running the show.

This is the capitalist ideology running the show. It will do whatever to turn a profit, even licking China's boots or building forced labor facilities in WW2. No system is perfect.
