I suspect a butlerian jihad-esque event before then.

Theres an emotional aspect to humanity with regards to survival that cant be left behind without threatening extinction. Ie: If you look at first world cultures, their will to survive among individuals is much strongerb/c their lives train them hard.

..Unless youre just trolling me.

Uhhh, can you elaborate. I'm afraid this just reads like gibberish to somebody not in your own head.

I don't predict this to be a problem any time soon. Unemployment has been relatively steady since the popularity of computers

Automation kills the force within us that perpetuates society. If things become too automated, there will be a backlash. There already is in a lot of ways

This.

Research and development expands exponentially with technology. Robots will create MORE jobs in the long run.

If u believe this you're straight up dumber than I even thought possible.

You sound like a flat earther right now.

I watched a ted talk that talked about how automation made more teller jobs because opening branches got cheaper. It was interesting, but on the whole we need another education revolution similar to public high school education for that to be a reality in the future.

Oh no u took the one anecdote before cry could post it haha.

We can offset it a lot with better education but unless there's a terminator situation its not gonna stop

Education can offset quite alot, but at the end of the day there is and will be a large segment of society that lacks the ambition and or mental acumen to excel in what will increasing become a vastly more complex technologically driven world. If automation technology is brought to it's logical conclusion this will be the only area's of "employment/jobs" remaining. That level of specialization will continue to rise and be built upon the foundations of an increasingly complicated world. I think it's folly to think a sizable percent of the population can rise above the educational floor that will be needed to continue raising that bar. There needs to be some fair and meaningful place/work for what I'll colloquially call ditch diggers, burger flippers and shit shovelers to go and contribute.
