Tested my max on sumo today. 5 plates are coming up this week.

Pulled 455 no problem.

I haven't done a back squat in a longgggg time (probably since last May) been using the SSB bar and doing front squats and using the shit out of the belt squat

but today i took another huge step in my process to getting back into powerlifting!

i smoked 420lb's for 2 sets of 2

and 3 sets of 1

in this video is my last set of 1

almost wish i had the vid of my first set of 2 because my depth was wayyy off and my knee's caved a bit

but damn am i happy that 420lb's moved this quickly after not squatting with a barbell in a long time, also, overall, this is probably the first time in a year, maybe 2, that i have gone over 400 lb's on squat. I had zero discomfort, pain, or anything, today i remembered why i love squatting

super focused on the future, my bulk is going very well and i'm on schedule to hit 200lb's in march and i'm sitting over here trying to think of a realistic, but crazy goal to set my squat at

nevermind it turns out i do!

one of the more experienced powerlifters there suggested i backed down to 1 rep and focus on my depth, and form, and staying tighter through the lift

i got a lonnggg lonnnnggg road ahead of me, but damn i can't wait

What up Pete nice squat. I recommend entering a natural Powerlifting competition in the future. Be sure to tell them that 4 week cycles don’t count tho. I recommend USAPL for you

Knee still caving in a bit, but those were solid lifts man. Makes me jelly.

I’m hoping for 425 for a single this month.

E: that’s 405?

your technique is pretty bad tbh, but this is the case with 99% of powerlifters.

you arent stable at all, anywhere. ankles knees and hips all cave/interally rotate. looks like slight lumbar extension, so lack of spinal tightness.

i'd easily pass any drug test they'd give me, end of story, also the USAPL is full of people who are on a shit ton of gear

never said it was a perfect squat, however i did say it was the first back squat i've done in months

i have a lot to work on, and actually i have trouble seeing what you're even talking about. and i'd have to disagree that 99% of powerlifters have bad technique

the video of me doing the double, yea i'd say i'm way off, the single is a bit better

if i can do 420lb's with bad technique and not being stable at all then i feel pretty good about the future as i increase the volume of my back squats and hone in on perfecting technique
