Played in world juniors too. He could end up being a roster player.

Ultimate troll pick haha. Even if he is linked with our 1st round pick and we desperately need defense.

Apparently it wasn't a troll pick, they just went with BPA.

Even if we need defense, I think going BPA is the way to go cuz we can use the assets to trade for whatever position we need in the future

Yeah there's no point in drafting for position unless you feel like it's extremely close to a toss up value wise.

Take the better player and trade him for what you need down the road if need be.

The problem with that is you may not have room on your roster or farm team to showcase the player to the best of his ability.

Could result in a lesser return. If you have a player who is a legit 2nd line center playing on the 3rd/4th line with less ice you could have a tough time convincing a prospective buyer he is an actual 2nd line center even though you know he is that good.

If there is a large gap in talent feel free, but I think there is some pitfalls in taking the BPA if you don't have an organizational plan ready to showcase the player's ability if you end up with a surplus.

I welcome the day we have the problem of too much talent and not enough spots, it would be a first



I think if we know there's potential for more a in a player, other teams can see the same thing. Too much video, scouting and stats out there for secrets.
