Def a bit disappointing to see either not coming back, they showed enough to warrant competing for 4th line spots. But no use getting attached to players like that. Wonders who Alvin is eyeing in UFA

I'm not disappointed, both those guys were quite useless/easily replaceable after motte left.

I'm guessing someone cheap and right handed like Lazar?

Can still sign them back, just saves a little bit of money on a new contract instead of QO I think.

Not sure how much interest there would be in either guy elsewhere.

Uhh do not like the Mikhyev signing at all. Money + term? Why... looking like Garland might get traded, who's actually proven at a similar pay grade.

I hope it means Pearson or at least Dickinson is gone instead, which would make this okay.

If they dump Garland for this... then fuck

a lot of money and term for a 27 year old with a career high 21 goals. He was on pace for 30+ if he was not injured but that is still too much to pay.

FA market is almost always overpay. I don't like it.

he's not brought into score goals though, got other players for that. It's just a bonus if he can get 20+ goals, i think the main thing here is the fact that he can PK and is fast which is the type of team JR/Alvin wants to build. I think i've seen him beating mcdavid in speed 1v1 as well, forgot if it's him or another dude. I do agree that he's overpaid AF though. Let's hope Podkolzin is super happy to have some russians on the team, and lets him go another level. Along with Kuzmenko haha

Lazar can also PK, defensively responsible, right handed center which the canucks desperately needed last season cuz everyone was left handed and forced to take draws on the rightside. He signed for much cheaper than most expected, i think Boston fans thought he would sign for 1.5m - 2m.

I really like the Lazar signing as well.

Just having a tough time getting on board with Mikhyev. What you said about him is true and we do need a player like. The price is just bad imo.

Hopefully he does great and I eat my words.

for sure, he's overpaid no matter how you look at it. Apparently he will be given a chance to play in the top 6 with the Canucks. Well even if he plays on the 3rd line, it won't be the likes of kempf/engvall but much better talented players to play with.
his shot % is high af, nearly double from his previous 2 seasons however he got his wrist slit by skates and is apparently healthy after the breakout season he had.
if he doesnt get 20g 40ish pts, then it would suck cuz no matter how useful his size, speed, PK and puck retrieving skills are, 4.75m for that is too pricey just for that.
I think Alvin jumped the gun a bit, i dont think many teams offered him any deals that he was looking for other than us. At least Alvin aimed for the lowest that his agent was targetting, he specifically said 4.75 -5.5m avv range, though i think we coulda got away with ~4m

Apparently he had lunch with Kuzemenko while they were both in miami in the off season, and kuzzy asked him for his opinion where he would play based on the offers he got. He chose Vancouver

So far in developmental camp,

Mcdonough, Klimovich, Karlsson and Bains look like they have a shot at having a career in the NHL.

I hope Linus Karlsson break the odds and continue to develop well and become a solid 3C for the Canucks. Love his attitude and work ethic towards the game.
“I want to do as many things as I can,” said Karlsson. “If I’m going to play PK or five minutes every game in the NHL, I’m gonna do that. I play where the coach tells me to play."

I think with the sedins and samuelsson's guidance, and his strong work ethic to learn, there's no doubt he will make the NHL.
