IQ scores are a good predictor in theory, in practice ive seen a loooot of unhappy smart people
for example ive been scoring 140+ on IQ tests consistently, yet i have no job, no wife, no money, im not good at what i studied, i wouldnt call myself a failure but im definitely below average
Good example of the problem with IQ.
The thing is, IQ is a legitimate indicator of intelligence, but it's also
just that. It says nothing about your ability to learn, your memory, your people skills, your decisionmaking, your willpower, your ethics, your creativity, etc etc etc.
It's perfectly possible for a person with high IQ to be quite stupid outwardly, just because raw analytical intelligence is not the only factor.
People sometimes talk about IQ as if it's the universal indicator of how smart they are (e.g. "I am obviously right because my IQ is 170"); the mistake is in how those people interpret the number. The number itself is not flawed.
