many users use the unspoken 2/3 rule

whoever meets 2/3 of the below goes LAST:
earliest join date
most fg
higher post count

good luck

example: if i were to trade thumpr (above me):
i have earlier join date/more posts, so I would go 2nd (would i actually? no, because he has 225k, i'd just send fg or item first cause i wanna trade fast)


also, you can always request a mediator to complete a trade - most users would rather not wait though and trade with someone else.
you can also just NOT trade with users (even if agreed, if you feel uncomfortable during a trade)
if you get scammed, you can post proof of scam in S/A forum.

my recommendation is to trade with "established" users that have a longer history here with like 10k+ fg sitting on their account/decent post count/older join date - they're much less likely to scam than newer accounts
