Hi,

I'm new here and haven't made any trades yet. I just wanted to know what proper trading protocol is. Does the seller give the item first and then receive the forum gold afterward? Or does the buyer give the forum gold first and then the seller gives the item afterward? I was just wondering.

Thank you so much!

youll always be giving first based off your join date, total post count, and total forum gold...usually the person with more of 2 out of the 3 categories i listed goes 2nd.

2/3 Rule is important to many of the people who have been here a while. If you decide to not follow it you may have a hard time making some trades.

Hey Avid,

The actual proper trading protocol is to always request a mediator for all trades so that you are 100% protected. Please take a look at jsp’s Offical trade help link here - https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=10

How to request a mediator can be found here - https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=11

Also I wanted to welcome you to JSP, I know it’s a lot to read but it only takes a few minutes and it’ll set you up quite well, take a look at some of these links if you have the time

Hey ,

I wouldn’t necessarily follow the advice from post #2 as it is not an official rule and does not prevent potential issues or possibilities of getting scammed. Always use a mediator when you can. It is safe, free, and efficient: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?c=4&p=11

Additionally, before you start trading, I would get familiar with trading rules: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=6 ; as well as the general rules of the forum: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=9

Lastly, please take a look at this D2R safe trading guide: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=85939746&f=268. The general trading principles/procedures described there will apply to most of other games as well.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you might have further questions. Be careful, exercise cation and common sense and enjoy the forums!

There's no general rule about who has to give first in a trade. The procedure described in posts #2 and #4 is by no means an official Trading Rule. After you've agreed on a deal with someone in a trading topic, a Mediator can be requested. If one trader feels uncomfortable giving first, this is the way to go.

If you're the creator of the trading topic, you'll find a green "Request a Mediator" button above your first post. You can click on it and a Mediator will reach out to assist you. If you're not the topic creator, you can ask OP to request one.

There are helpful links in posts #5 and #6 that explain the process in greater detail. You can send a PM if you have further questions!
