What would an alliance do outside of ladder slasher?

Could be a number of things. The site here focused around 3 main principles.

Trades. Gaming. Community.

I am in a few unofficial/official Alliances and for different reasons. Some are with smaller groups of individuals, some with complete Guilds. There is a give and take to it all and in the end we something has to be gained out of it. Each Alliance has different levels of integrity to it and over time will resort to different foundation supporting what his site has to offer.

Now if I am officially in an Alliance with a Guild and Fighting the climb for #1 Guild Points I am sure those who feel challenged are going to notice. What would you do if I my Alliances did everything they could to prevent the top leading Slasher Guilds from getting all the good trades, gaming hours, and community around?

Outside of ladder slasher there is absolutely zero reason for this to be implemented.

There is literally nothing worth paying to be in an alliance with another guild if you are not an ls guild

Access to private guild topics, access to each-others jspIM, access to polls.
Say you were knowingly going to be away for a period of time, someone from an aligned guild could assist your other co-leaders with anything they might need.
There are a lot of opportunities where this could be useful outside of ladder slasher.

That being said, when revamping this suggestion I reinforced the impact it would have on ladder slasher/vault access, etc.

So between the 3 of us we all have different definitions and suggestions of what a Guild Alliance could be.
