push-up contest at MGM Grand will raise the required funds

i'd wager this is worse than Jeb! in 2016..i mean this is just bad. probably means the establishment has to try and play shadow puppeters even more than usual going forward.

Well, let's not get carried away with ourselves. Biden already has more delegates than Jeb ever got  . Granted, a former VP should have higher expectations so there's that too.

How do you even give a speech after a night like this? Coming in 4th last state and then 5th tonight after being the former Democratic VP and leading front-runner for most of the time since announcing...that's rough.

I wonder if the DNC is going to have a tough talk with Biden in an attempt to not split the moderate vote so much to try and stop Sanders. I know they will try to keep Warren in for as long as possible for this reason.

I think you're vastly overestimating the power of the DNC here lol. Super delegates aren't allowed to vote on the first ballot, there are no winner take all states, etc. While they don't like Sanders, they aren't going to actively sabotage him if it looks like he'll be the nominee. That would guarantee a Trump win which is the WORST case scenario.

The culinary union, which like most other unions has tremendous pull in Nevada, has just put out a statement warning its members that Sanders' healthcare plan would jeopardize their beloved union plans. Rumors are that some unions might endorse Warren. The godfather of Democratic politics in Nevada, Harry Reid, is said to be a big Warren fan and might deploy his political machine for her.

Regarding Biden: the problem I see is that Bernie is already quite popular with younger blacks, while the remaining moderate candidates are all not very appealing to blacks. If Biden drops out and blacks coalesce behind Sanders, which imho is a real possibility, then the DNC might really lose control and not be able to stop him anymore. So I dont think it's as easy for them as "it's definitely in our interest for Joe to drop out, let's ramp up the pressure".

Someone needs to create a deep fake of Michelle Obama saying she'd hit that (referring to Buttigieg) and Barack saying, yea honey me too. Then we can all accept Pete as the nominee.

But yea, the culinary union is HUGE in Nevada because it's a caucus. Caucus is all about organization. A Warren win in Nevada would be great IMO.

Lol!

Here's a link to the culinary union stuff:

I have a feeling that the Nevada caucus will once again be an extremely "swampy" affair, just like in 2016.

After NH, the clusterfuck is bigger than ever and the outcome of the primary more unclear than ever before. Shit's going to hit the fan sooner or later, one way or the other.

True, but Black voters are only one part of the equation. A big part, sure, but does Buttigieg win a state like tonight if Biden is out? Maybe. The DNC's best bet could be to coalesce behind Buttigieg, which is something we have both speculated they have prepped him for if Biden flops.

Given, the first two states have been very White, which has helped Buttigieg (and Klobuchar) a lot, but still. He could be the DNC's best bet to stop Sanders if he clears out the moderate lane. I'm personally not buying the Klobuchar hype, but I would give her a better chance at the nomination than both Warren and Biden at this point.

Edit: Getting ahead of myself a bit. Biden still has a better and clearer path to the nomination than Klobuchar with his strength with POC. But it's getting harder and harder for me to see Biden's path now that his polling with POC has tanked in recent months. Klobuchar has a unique angle and appeal that I don't think Biden can spin to voters in key swing states.

Klobuchar still has her work cut out for her. She's a relatively blank slate in terms of her platform, and she has neither the youthful charisma nor the obama-esque rhetoric of Buttigieg. She has MUCH better credentials though, and doesnt reek of careerism like Buttigieg does.

So yeah, Buttigieg might be the DNC's best bet at stopping Sanders, other than keeping Warren in the race as strong as possible. I still have huge doubts about his appeal with minorities, particularly males. Black and latino men really arent into gays AT ALL. Nor are they into lily white choir boys.

I guess it's gonna be a couple of long days and nights at the DNC trying to figure out how they can work themselves out of this mess without ceding the nomination to Sanders or damaging the eventual nominee so much that Trump wipes the floor with him in the general.

I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest take ever. You're VASTLY underestimating black voters in the Democratic party. Bernie has a better shot with black voters than both Pete and Amy and he'll FOR SURE be the nominee if Biden tanks more.

I think all of us are overestimating Pete's chances because he's meant to appeal to us.

My radical pitch to the DNC: Like the GOP in 2016, let the voters decide the nominee.

I just get the feeling they are going to fuck this up again.
