The culinary union, which like most other unions has tremendous pull in Nevada, has just put out a statement warning its members that Sanders' healthcare plan would jeopardize their beloved union plans. Rumors are that some unions might endorse Warren. The godfather of Democratic politics in Nevada, Harry Reid, is said to be a big Warren fan and might deploy his political machine for her.
Regarding Biden: the problem I see is that Bernie is already quite popular with younger blacks, while the remaining moderate candidates are all not very appealing to blacks. If Biden drops out and blacks coalesce behind Sanders, which imho is a real possibility, then the DNC might really lose control and not be able to stop him anymore. So I dont think it's as easy for them as "it's definitely in our interest for Joe to drop out, let's ramp up the pressure".
True, but Black voters are only one part of the equation. A big part, sure, but does Buttigieg win a state like tonight if Biden is out? Maybe. The DNC's best bet could be to coalesce behind Buttigieg, which is something we have both speculated they have prepped him for if Biden flops.
Given, the first two states have been very White, which has helped Buttigieg (and Klobuchar) a lot, but still. He could be the DNC's best bet to stop Sanders if he clears out the moderate lane. I'm personally not buying the Klobuchar hype, but I would give her a better chance at the nomination than both Warren and Biden at this point.
Edit: Getting ahead of myself a bit. Biden still has a better and clearer path to the nomination than Klobuchar with his strength with POC. But it's getting harder and harder for me to see Biden's path now that his polling with POC has tanked in recent months. Klobuchar has a unique angle and appeal that I don't think Biden can spin to voters in key swing states.
