Newsom's Dubious Award

Gavin Newsom has received a national award for "transformative improvements to education." Next, the Cookie Monster will be honored for promoting health and fitness.

Sadly, it is not a joke. Newsom was in Washington, D.C. yesterday to collect the "Frank Newman Award for State Innovation" from the so-called Education Commission of the States. His delusional acceptance speech was dedicated to attacking "red states."

I've written a letter to the Commission condemning their baffling choice. You can read it here. Apparently, the decision was based solely on the fact that California spends a lot of money. Nevermind that we get the absolute worst results.

Newsom is now considered by many pundits to be the likely Democrat nominee if Biden doesn't run. If elected to Congress, I will make sure every American knows what he's done to California. It will be the biggest landslide defeat since Reagan swept 49 states.

As the latest affront, Newsom's "emergency" COVID rules for the early release of prisoners are being made permanent. Meanwhile, Starbucks has announced it's closing several California stores because of out-of-control crime.

But some good news: we've stopped Newsom from shutting down the House of Oliver. After we exposed this attempt at political retaliation against an outspoken critic of his lockdowns, Newsom was forced to back off. The restaurant remains open and thriving.

On Saturday, Gavin Newsom admitted the State of Emergency is illegal.

In an interview with Fox 11, Newsom said he's only keeping the emergency in place because the Legislature won't pass the laws he wants; therefore, he must retain the dictatorial power to make laws himself.

I spent almost a year prosecuting a lawsuit against Newsom and know he tends to put his foot in his mouth. But this critical error comes at an auspicious time: three weeks before a court will rule on the State of Emergency in a case brought by the OC Board of Education.

Newsom's blunder also comes as LA County is about to impose yet another mask mandate. We've seen this movie before: Whenever LA does something insane, Newsom is not far behind with a statewide order.

Several large school districts are also reimposing mask mandates. Yesterday, San Diego Unified's Board President even said that students who do not want to wear a mask should not return to school at all.

Without the State of Emergency, the authority to issue those mandates is gone. That's why in addition to the court case, I'm pressing the Legislature to stop this madness by passing my Resolution, ACR 46, to end the emergency once and for all.

We've always known the likes of Newsom would try to make the authoritarian control adopted in the name of COVID permanent. We've been preparing for this moment – we've built a movement – and we’re not going to let it happen.

1984 in 2022

In response to my last post, the Governor's Office has released a diatribe calling the State of Emergency "perfectly legal." This comes after the Governor himself was caught on television admitting it is unnecessary, and thus, illegal.

In Orwell's classic 1984, the regime's slogans are: "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength." The propaganda of the Newsom regime has become eerily similar.

Newsom has started calling California the "real Freedom state." This is a governor who literally threatened to impose Martial Law.


Newsom says "Republicans are trying to destroy public education." This is a governor who shut down public schools while keeping his own kids in private school.


Newsom says California is a "model for the nation." This is a state people are leaving in record numbers.


The list goes on: Newsom has signed an "inflation relief" bill that experts agree will make inflation even worse. And if you're a senior on a fixed income, Newsom says tough luck – you won't be receiving one of his checks.

Meanwhile, San Diego Unified’s Board President has reduced education policy to a simple slogan: Wear a mask or drop out of school. This is despite yet another study – out of California's own universities – finding that "school-based mask mandates have limited to no impact."

Another famous line from 1984 comes from the protagonist: "Freedom is the freedom to say two plus two makes four." The reason Newsom keeps targeting us is we're speaking the truth. That, to him and his cronies, is the most dangerous thing of all.

Newsom is dragging California education to near-Mississippi levels and he gets an award. He helped kick children out of classes for over a year, his policies and party have increased the student-teacher ratio by allowing the importation of illegals which makes the quality of that education plummet, and shuts his eyes at straight out discrimination against Asians enrolling into universities for being smart. He’s such a prick.

The Ferrer Furor

Momentum is building against LA's outrageous new mask mandate. This could be a turning point.

The county's "Public Health" Director, Barbara Ferrer, is intent on plowing ahead with the mandate. But the Board of Supervisors can block her diktat at tomorrow's meeting. You can submit a public comment on Item #2 here.

This matters for all Californians: Whenever LA does something insane related to COVID, Newsom is not far behind with a statewide order.

Since announcing the mandate, Ferrer has been contradicted by LA's own hospitals about COVID numbers and exposed for relying on a mask "study" authored by her own daughter. She was also caught mixing masklessly – indeed jubilantly – with 70,000 baseball fans.

As bad as Ferrer is, her quackery is enabled by elected officials. Newsom and the Legislature have maintained the State of Emergency; the Board of Supervisors has let Ferrer keep her job and rubber stamped her orders – until, perhaps, tomorrow.

In Placer County, we did replace our Public Health Director. The new director focused on disease control rather than population control – protecting the vulnerable while citizens made their own decisions. The result: a COVID mortality rate half that of Ferrer's LA.

Fauci and imitators like Ferrer have nurtured a cult of personality meant to overpower all else: common sense, actual science, the Constitution itself. Tomorrow is our best chance yet to cut them down to size and bring this era of government control to an end.

A Huge Win

LA County is cancelling its absurd new mask mandate. Thank you to all who fought back.

Earlier this week the cities of Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Long Beach, El Segundo, and Manhattan Beach announced they would refuse to enforce Barbara Ferrer's order. And just moments ago, Ferrer backtracked and cancelled it.

This is the turning point we’ve been working towards. It effectively stops Newsom from issuing another statewide mandate, eager as he might be to do so.

It’s reminiscent of when my home school district, Roseville Joint Union, passed a Resolution to ignore Newsom’s school mask mandate. Neighboring districts followed suit and it snowballed from there; humiliated, Newsom was forced to rescind the order.

It’s also similar to our triumph over his student vaccine mandate. After we stopped Senator Pan’s mandate bill, I called for Newsom to rescind his own Executive Order. Hours later, he did just that – a major embarrassment after months of showcasing the “first in the nation” mandate.

Notably, the current resistance is happening in some of the bluest parts of the state. In Long Beach, Democrats outnumber Republicans 144,000 to 44,000. LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger also released a blistering statement opposing the mask mandate as useless.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court is retiring. Newsom will undoubtedly appoint a rubber stamp judge of the kind that let him keep ruling the state by decree even after we won a trial against him. The confirmation will be a major battle.
