I guess its a combination of things like the way she dresses, carries herself, speaks, her authentic personality and physical characteristics, etc.

Its obvious why OP is reading books and not knowing what men want... because she would be posting on reddit NSFW instead of d2jsp.. and find out exactly what men want and how to manipulate them. Instead she is on the nerd site because.. well.. let's face she is a he and nerd himself trying to figure out what they can do for lack of aesthetically pleasing and or traditional norm accepting things that would qualify you to be a significant other.

For the most part, this is true. Men want a feminine woman, but also don't want a whiny woman. Men don't enjoy when women ask them what to do, how to do it - they like woman with initiative.

Most men also want a woman that will elevate their status. IE: Man has friends over, woman is wearing attractive clothing and prepares drinks or asks the men if they'd like a coffee. Men want their colleagues and friends to be jealous of what they have, and in return typically the man will provide the lifestyle the woman wants, also. Both parties are responsible for separate things.
