Okay so here comes the update:

The start of the offensive has been a complete and utter failure, principally zero gains so far. First line of defense (which is the weakest by far) has not even come close to being passed. There is like 5 lines of defense...

There is video evidence for 10%+ destruction of all delivered mbt / ifv (ukranian source). First 2 days saw losses in low-quality mobilized troops but last 2 days has been essentially the creme of the crop getting wrecked.

Only north-west bakhmut has seen some progress (albeit very minimal).

Ukranian defense minster has recently said they are ready to negotiate a peace-deal if SMO goals can change (speculation: russia keeps territory, rest of ukraine is allowed to join nato --> big fat no )
