In the Army, E7 at 10 years is very common. Do your schools, get good ratings, get good scores on PT tests. Easy
An E5 at 10 years is a fucking shitbag.
Check out AR 600-8-19 chapter 3-9
The Army puts E-5s in a promotable status automatically at 83 months time in service through the mandatory list integration.
As long as they have completed the required schools and are not flagged they will get promoted at 84 months.
So at 84 months(7 years) you will be automatically promoted to E6, but most choose to go to the promotion board and get promoted well before that.
You can go to the E-6 promotion board at 47 months time is service.
"e-4 making almost half the pay"
Please get out of finance. You are for sure fucking up everyones pay.
I said over 4700 take home, and thats disregarding your lack of basic math that 4700 is nowhere near 'half' of 7000.
My pre tax entitlements is $5123, so nearly 75% of the E-7 mid career.
What is weird is how the entire discussion was how the military doesn't make enough money and
you didn't even use yourself as an example at the E-4 Level, think real hard on why you decided that route.Lets now focus on how bad your tunnel vision is, Military does not mean Army, Military is a generalization of all the forces. Not every branch uses promotion boards for ranking, It is undeniable that army is no shit probably the easiest place to make rank with the absolute lowest dogshit standards of each branch. So congratulations with that.
E4 Over 2 - 2,450
Housing allowance - 1,908 or 1,518
https://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/pdcgi/bah/bahsrch.cgi ( that's assuming you have a spouse, or kids to support as well, with how you act/react on this forum I would guess your unmarried )
Food allowance - 386
Total = 4,744
Total without spouse/kids = 4,354
~~
E7 Over 10 - 4,324
Housing allowance - 2,265
Food allowance - 386
Total = 6,975
2,450 vs 4,324 ALMOST half, I knew you were gonna be so critical I would do an actual % here for you. As I mentioned several times; the only thing that matters here is the BASE PAY.
How exactly is 4700 your take home pay when its 4,700 pre-taxes with a spouse? How long have you been an E-4?
You didn't address any of the points in my post other than the simple fact that their are plenty of E5's at 10 years in other branches because it isn't a promotion board to make rank like it is for you.
You've literally lied about several things already to try to prove a point, you are completely wrong on this matter on several different levels; the fact that you can't even be honest with your own pay on a topic about military pay means I am just wasting my time here.
I am done attempting to talk to a 20 year old about world views.
