You really cant say the military gets paid well and not take the entire force as a whole into consideration.

Lets break this down, 4323 before taxes. not take home pay

housing allowance - based on zipcode and rank for example 1395 in my area for E-7
food allowance - sure

why do you think they give allowances? how many sailors/soldiers/airman do not recieve bah/bas and the like and survive purely based off of base pay?

lets not even consider what we do for the money vs other much easier jobs. I can't speak on your mos/rate but maybe you have it easier than others.

we could probably have this discussion further via pms because of all the variables but base pay is what we are talking about here.

Okay lets consider the lower side of the spectrum. A new member straight out of high school just finished basic training and AIT.

They get paid 2000 per month.

Free housing and utilities.

Free food.

Sounds like a pretty fucking good deal to me straight out of high school.

They do. You should look at the list of benefits to veterans.

The most prominent being the GI bill.

4 years of college paid for while also receiving a pretty significant monthly check into your bank account.

once again 2000 per month BEFORE taxes. looking probably closer to 1600 after

working a 10-12 hours a day, including most weekends ( once again mos/rate/command dependent ) but we can just factor in mon-friday avg 11 hours a day. 55 hours a week less than 8 dollars an hour.

thats assuming you don't have extra work hours, watches etc.

free housing - lol
free food - lol

lets be real here, if the military had better pay and benefits then recruiters wouldn't be in such a crisis at the moment and have been for the last few years.

Of course its before taxes. What fucking employer advertises pay after taxes? None.

Most weekends are not worked, thats a flat out lie and you know it.

$8/hr AFTER housing and food is paid for.

Straight out of high school.
