I really couldn't care less. Point is Egypt had a massive, organized, wonder-building empire before Rome even existed, and it wasn't even the only one in Africa. It's just the one that Rome had the most contact with so it's the one we learn about.
And we spend an extensive time learning about the ancient Egyptians. We don't spend any time at all learning about the Dacians, because there's very little to go on. It is for no other reason that those civilizations left very little in the way of archaeological/historical/literary evidence.

lol that's not true at all. Like, on any level.
It is not how I would describe it, but neither would I be trying to compare ancient Egypt to the many and diverse civilizations of the sub-Saharan and beyond.
The Egyptians from the mid 6th century BC on were dominated by Persia, and from the late 4th century on were ruled by Greek (Macedonian) descendants. After Alexander the Great died, Egypt passed under the control of Ptolemy, who established the Ptolemaic dynasty and Egypt subsequently controlled by Greek descendants until their eventual overthrow by Rome during the civil wars of the 2nd triumvirate.
