Considering the fact that Biden had MUCH higher name recognition, favorability ratings and appeal in swing states than Kamala, and that he only won the tipping point state in the electoral college by 0.63%, it seems quite safe to assume that Trump would have defeated Kamala.

A hypothetical Bernie vs Trump matchup is harder to gauge since the coalitions of both sides would have been slightly different. (Less suburban erosion for Trump, less white working class shellacking for the Democrat.)



The tldr on Kamala imho is the following: she is much more of a "black Hillary" than she is a "female Obama".

Polling from 2020 or 2016?
Bernie's messaging and priorities shifted quite a bit in between, consequently, he performed substantially worse in the 2020 primary compared with his 2016 run.
I'm really not sure if the "woke, GND-supporting Bernie" of 2020 would have been able to eat into Trump's wwc support that much.
