76ers are not going to make the finals as a 4th seed, let alone as a 5th/6th seed which is more likely with their recent play. People should not underestimate the importance of seeding in the playoffs. In the past 20 years, not counting the shortened 1999 NBA season, only the following teams made the NBA finals as a 4th seed:
2006 Mavericks (who actually finished 60-22 with the 2nd best record in the west, so they should have been the 2nd seed under the new seeding rules), 2010 Celtics, 2018 Cavaliers. None of them won the finals. The only 4th seed or lower that won the finals in the modern era was the 6th seeded 1996 Houston Rockets who had an all-time great in Hakeem, and also traded for Clyde Drexler mid-season, so their seeding didn't reflect their true potential at all.
While past performance is no guarantee of future results, I do trust it more than people repeating "the 76ers are built for the playoffs, blabla". They have no players like Hakeem/Drexler, no Dirk, no Paule Pierce/Ray Allen, no Lebron. They have absolutely no one on their team you can trust to have the ball in theirs hands in the clutch.
Ben Simmons is useless in half-court offense, and Embiid will simply get doubled and throw up an ugly turnover.
Good thing the season is only half over....
And good thing the difference between the #2 seed and the #6 seed is a whopping 2 games lmao...
