Well if she was playing Call of Duty and barking out orders to her teammates about who to shoot, then it makes perfect sense why police would have perceived a threat based on what they heard being said inside the house...

Does that explain why they didn’t announce their presence at the front door or follow any standard welfare check protocols ?

remember the scene from Wind River when the FBI chick was standing outside the door to the trailer announcing her presence? The dude cop realized that it was a trap and yelled at her to move from the door.

If the cops in Fort Worth had reason to believe that there was a team inside, armed and organizing a plan of attack, it would have been clearly a perceived threat. Announcing your presence is tactical suicide in that case.

regarding the case: a tragedy, but not so much proof of a problem with gun violence in the US. I rather think the issue in cases like this one is insufficient training of police officers, and hiring unqualified, unsuitable persons for the job.
