Decided on this build for a friend who wants a relatively high end PC for video/music editing + ego. PC will not be overclocked.

Memory:

G.SKILL Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16D-32GTZR 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200Mhz CL16

CPU:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core,16 Threads, UNLOCKED, up to 4.3 GHz Max Boost

GPU:

Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8G GDDR5 Graphics Card , 2X HDMI + 2X Display + DVI Port

Storage:

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD V-NAND, SATA III 6GB/s, R/W(Max) 550MB/s/520MB/s
Seagate SkyHawk 4TB SATA3 HDD (7200RPM 64gb cache)

PSU:

Cooler Master MWE Gold 550W 80Plus Gold Full Modular Power Supply

Tower:

Cooler Master MasterBox MB520 RGB Mid-Tower ATX Case (No PSU)

Mobo:

Gigabyte X470 AORUS GAMING 5 WIFI For AMD Ryzen Socket AM4

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things I am unsure of:

- 550W OR 650W PSU? What I have read online suggests 550w is completely fine but some have said 650w is the better choice..
- Is this particular MOBO a wise choice? I'm looking at only x470s currently as they seem to be more future proof. Wanting one with WIFI.
- Will the cooling from the case + components be adequate without adding on any additional fans or anything?
- Any obvious issues/mistakes with this build?

Based on where I live + convenience i'm only purchasing parts from https://www.pbtech.co.nz/ so please check this site if intending to make any recommendations for other parts. Not looking to spend much more than what the parts here cost.

would go for at least 650w psu for this build, 550 would probably be fine, but better safe then sorry, psu is pretty important, would change it to corsair or evga aswell

mobo is a little overkill maybe, but fine for future proof if he wants to OC at some point, but if he doesnt want to oc ever, there is no reason to get that imo

for cooling, make sure the case has filtered intake fans.. for cpu stock is fine if he doesnt oc

also i would go for nvme storage only instead of ssd+hdd and would use nvidia gpu instead of amd ofc

Cool will change to 650
Not much choice at least on this site for x470s that have wifi.never plan to OC but unless a b450 or something is truly viable can’t do much
Cooling ok, have dust filters on front of selected case
Wasn’t aware of nvme, look very impressive. Will stick to current storage selection as wanting lots of space and nvme is expensive per gb

Thanks for your help.. still interested in more opinions if anyone can comment

i'd say dont buy a mobo because it has wifi.. sure x470 is nice but so is many b450 boards and there is tons of wifi alternatives

well if he edits alot videos he probably needs a hdd for storage, but investing in some nvme is more future proof and much nicer to work with

Yeah I meant based on my limited research, b450m may not be a good choice as they are more dated. Don’t really know what I am doing 100% so choosing a mobo is hard. If this is not the case I can try find a cheaper b450m one.
True, will probably go for nvme + hdd then.

No overclocking tells him get 650w psu
Thing is barely pulling 400w maxed out

im not 100% up to date on amd mobos either, but i think pretty much everyone is useing b450 unless u want that really high end OC stuff

he asked for future proof, and has an amd gpu.. and i also said "if u want to oc at some point"

if u wanted to run this system on a 400w psu.. whats wrong with u

By future proof I more mean it not turning into a redundant POS rather than having any intention to upgrade any parts later.

a good psu is important imo, its also one of those parts that would suck to upgrade later, because its not really a upgrade lol

if u pay a little more u get that extra warrenty, extra watts and a fan that wont spin at medium load.. this way it will last longer and maybe into future build
