By future proof I more mean it not turning into a redundant POS rather than having any intention to upgrade any parts later.

Here get this power supply...

a good psu is important imo, its also one of those parts that would suck to upgrade later, because its not really a upgrade lol

if u pay a little more u get that extra warrenty, extra watts and a fan that wont spin at medium load.. this way it will last longer and maybe into future build

lol you said 650w lol

quantity isnt quality

and to you and OP

there is no such thing as future proofing

- 550W OR 650W PSU? What I have read online suggests 550w is completely fine but some have said 650w is the better choice..
- Is this particular MOBO a wise choice? I'm looking at only x470s currently as they seem to be more future proof. Wanting one with WIFI.
- Will the cooling from the case + components be adequate without adding on any additional fans or anything?
- Any obvious issues/mistakes with this build?

Based on where I live + convenience i'm only purchasing parts from https://www.pbtech.co.nz/ so please check this site if intending to make any recommendations for other parts. Not looking to spend much more than what the parts here cost.[/SIZE]

-550w is far more then enough even if oc'ing cpu. Buy a 80+ bronze cert psu and save some cash as well unless he's the type to literally never turn off pc.
It will take you several years "3-5" imo to make back the extra you spend if not longer.
-No such thing as "future proof" by the time you want to upgrade shit will generally need to be replaced, you have no idea how the market will go.
shits been pretty stagnant for awhile, if anything wait till this new amd line drops in like next 2 months. 450 is fine imo since no oc'ing.
-Don't bother paying the premium for the samsung ssd, buy a m.2 ssd as well maybe adata or crucial for less or better speeds at same price point.
-If the case has at least 1 fan it will be fine at stock speeds for sure.
-I think you can ditch the RGB ram, why pay the premium? / Are you even going to use 4tb? if not invest into a single 1tb ssd / money saved can
go into a better gpu which will realistically make it "last longer". / Case is a premium as well cause rgb but that you choice.

I don't have time to browse site right now but I think I've made my point.

great points
but another thing is what software is he using
depending on software he is using or intents to use is kinda needed
he might not need any gpu at all might just stack that ram and ssd capacity
or the software he uses might be better off on intel
but then again this close to zen 2 i'd wait myself

Intel pricey as fuck and he's trying to do video editing without spending more/
If he's got that cash a better gpu will always be better then going from amd to intel.

depends on the software
i have seen people waste money on gpus in cad and video editing machines and they are of no use considering what they are doing with the software

Sure but I'm also sure his so called friend actually plans to game on it otherwise a 580 is way overkill.
in which case I mean shit theres tons of savings there and then why not 16/32 core cpu?

all depends on software and type of editing in my opinion
but ego is in the topic too

I have seen many semi professionals waste on highend or many cores/gpu when in fact their software was core dependent
they got better use seliling gpu with using money on better cameras or sound equipment larger ssds
hence my point

Fair enough, I haven't used many and of the few I've used more cores was def better.
