But what a certain gender should do or say changed over time in the same society, or was very different across societies.
The implication to your argument is therefore that those societies had significantly different biologies that caused it.
i'd think what is expected of a man or woman initially hinged on their biology and that technological progress (agricultural revolution, industrial revolution etc.) facilitates societal progress that permits a broader range of roles for men and women. why some societies made the advances that they did and why others didn't and remain bow and arrow civilizations are a different matter. while there are some matriarchal tribes i doubt they're sending the women out to do the hunting.

Nobody cared about it. Science was by and for the privileged. We could talk about the actual history of science but I'm not taking that on. Empiricism rose with witch hunting. When women were allowed to do science you ended up with Marie freakin Curie and Double Helix structure. Lol. Imagine how much further we would be if all humans could work on this stuff. "Soft sciences" lol.
phrenology is a precursor to psychology. your forebearers in the field of soft sciences are the ones who thought negroes were no better than cattle or that women are lacking in their capacity to think. i don't deny that it's a necessary but it's a field that has always been tainted by subjectivity, bias, politics and pitifully inadequate experimentation if any. like i can't trust this guy in the middle when he says to trust him when he says trans athletes don't have any advantages cuz he's done all the research already.
