Ive been having issues with chrome lagging, and eventually crashing. Video games constantly lag, and I cant even run Apex Legends.

Ijust assumed it was Chrome eating ram, but closing everything doesnt stop the game lag, and even running 1 tab on chrome will eventually lag and crash the window.

My computer specs should be more then able to handle things, so I was curious if having a cheaper wifi usb can cause this?

E/Wow ment to post in Discussion, my apologies if this could be moved or if I can still get some help here lol.

Post a speccy screenshot so we know what you're working with hardware wise. Then monitor your resource usage while in chrome or gaming and that can help. You could have a memory leak or something going on.

THe things I have changed recently was my 1080ti, getting the 1440p monitor, and going from an ethernet connection at my old place, to using a wifi dongle at this new one.

This is pretty consistent for watching a stream with about 7 chrome tabs open on top.

I havnt switched to a different browser yet, I figured since its been affecting more then just Chrome that it had to be a general problem and not just chrome.

I can download Opera and give it a try for a couple days, but like I said I have completely closed chrome out and games like POE, Beat Saber, MTGA and Apex will lag, or become completely unplayable. I literally cannot get into a game of Apex, the whole game crashes on the lobby screen.

Is your cpu or ram maxed when it lags?
Also, I don't see an ethernet tab, have you made sure your network isn't what's lagging? For games like PoE or Apex which are online, that could play a part.

I dont have ethernet where I am now, I am just running off a 30 dollar wifi usb. I was curious if it can max out or something which is causing the random crashes.

Also the fucker gets really hot.

Yeah, consider getting a pcie wireless card, and make sure you got a good modem and router.

I dont have access to upgrading the modem and router, the suite upstairs controls that end of things.

Ive heard of powerline adapters, but I dont know much.

My main goal is to stream some games eventually, and the upstairs is pushing out 120+ mbs down and I think she said 50 up, but I only get about 25-80mbts down, 15-20 upload.

What would be better in this case?
