23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.

God slaying the ancient version of 12 year olds on Call of Duty. I view this as one of Christianity's upsides.

I think it's sad that even if the Bible do contain some strange verses, the overall idea of it, the essential points which it brings forth; that there is a power that is way beyond our comprehension, far above us in every way, a power which we should worship, love, and fear, and that this is the purpose of human existence, that this idea gets lost because people cannot get pass trivialities is a big tragedy. The Bible's true. It may be slightly out of time on a handful issues, but the fundamentals are as correct and true as they were when they were written done some thousands years ago.

You’ve already conceded that your bible is ‘out of date’. Can a text that is supposedly divinely-inspired by a perfect being ever become defunct?

Also, I wouldn’t say class the encouragement of slavery, sexual slavery and genocide as trivialities

Of course it can you degenerate. Language and culture changes over time. Slavery was the most humane choice at the time given the alternatives of starving and being conquered.

You’re telling me a perfect being, supposedly omnibenevolent and omniscient, couldn’t think of a better solution than slavery? What do we need this god for, if his solutions aren’t any better than man’s?

You’ve addressed my first point (not satisfactorily, but there you go) so what about the others - were sexual slavery and genocide also the most humane choices at the time?

Anyway, who was it that ordered the israelites to conquer in the first place?

I never thought I’d be called a degenerate for arguing against slavery, sexual slavery and genocide lol
