Edit : Topic-related : First few comments seem to be good advices. You can never go wrong in surfing the wikipedia for literally anything you encounter ingame. There are a lot of guides out there (youtube or official forum posts) and there are many different builds to understand and try out.
People often say you'll mess up your first character which is mostly true, but nothing stops you from planning ahead, reading a guide and following it to learn the basics of the game. Have fun!
