Hello! I am a Diablo 2 player who finally got tired of a 20 years old game and, mostly, of bots, so I decided to try POE which, I have to say, looks really nice.

I am here to ask you some advices to start the forthcoming new "ladder" ( :P ) in the right way.

Now I'm making practice with an archer, which reminds me a lot Diablo 2's amazon, one of my favourite characters.

My main question is: will I be able to play smoothly with this character or I'll need a strong melee/tank to face the darkest depths of Delve and whatever the new expansion will bring?
note: I'm not too much into PVP: I'll do pve most/all of the time.

Any other advice for me about levelling/farming/finding the right gear? :)

Thanks!

Ranger can do all game content with no real issues, elemental hit is the current meta but there are other strong options.
To level find as much life and res as you can, flat physical damage on jewellery and the best physical damage on bow you can find.

Thank you for your feedback!
Actually I am using multi shot/spectral archer on packs and the cold arrow on bosses, sometimes deploying a Ballista and blinking on the other side. I managed to find a unique short bow which is very fast (3 attacks/s) but with a poor physical damage, so I was thinking to focus more on elemental damage. I'l look for a stronger one :)

What should I do with all the orb and stuff I am collecting? Better improve the gear or save it for higher level stuff? (ATM I'm level 25)

game is massive and complex, will take time to learn it. just enjoy the process.

start in softcore challenge league, then move to hardcore if you want. you can technically start in hc but it's not a good idea, you WILL die (I guess you could prepare if you really read up on everything beforehand, but most likely you'd still end up dead a lot)

go to class forums and look at builds. not to copy them, but to be inspired and see something you like and wanna play. it will give you ideas and a framework, then you can develop build and playstyle along the way.

watch youtube guides.

buy stash tabs.

PS: love Diablo I play it since D1 on my dial-up, but it's past time. POE > D2 no doubt. I play POE since 2013 open beta, haven't skipped a league yet, still going strong.

sounds like you die a lot and not for you. subjective. I play only HC in D2 and POE for years on end. would get bored of SC fast.

Poe has ongoing connection issues that have never been fixed, playing hc in a game where any deaths are likely to be due to server issues just seems pointless.
+ everyone just uses logout macros anyway, which makes it just sc with lag deaths.

This.

5 minutes of sc makes me want to shoot myself.

Not everyone uses logout macros lol...

5 minutes of using a logout macro would make me want to shoot myself as well.

rofl wow, what a stupid ignorant comment. I don't want to turn this into a retarded sc vs. hc discussion though, I will NOT entertain that. just gonna say one thing: if poe servers had issues, then every single player would experience those issues. you fail at BASIC logic. if you have issues with your connection/routing gateways, don't blame it on ggg, lmfao. also portal slots are limited and time is a factor - most deaths come from poor play, mistakes, bad judgment in risk vs. reward. you fail again, but those are the kind of arguments I'd expect from a stereotypical sc player.
