100% agree. It's a clean hit and if you actually stop it and look at it, it's all shoulder making contact.
We all know this fucking shit is going to decide the outcome of at least a handful of games this year and this is just too fucking much. These guys are getting paid MILLIONS every single fucking year to play the game. Ya, it's dangerous, I'm fucking sorry man, but that's the game you signed up to play. We going to make it so boxers can't hit each other in the head anymore because it can lead to brain damage down the road? Don't spend your whole life playing a dangerous game if you don't want to risk fucking yourself up. This shit has gotta stop. I'm ALL for being harsher on dirty hits, nasty helmet to helmet or w/e, but there's gotta be a fucking line on destroying the way the game has always fucking worked to make modern day gladiators a little safer. IT'S NOT A SAFE GAME, get over it.
It's just all optics. The NFL wants to avoid people from realizing the truth is that the hard hits aren't even what is causing CTE , it's just from playing football itself. Players with the highest rates of CTE are lineman/linebackers/RBs , the position that usually make contact almost every play. Just the act of making contact puts force onto your brain and you play 30-60 snaps a game 16 games at least a year and not factoring in practice or pre season or playoffs , you're looking at like 500+ impacts that will over time do damage and is significantly worse for you than getting blasted even though helmet to helmet is more acute.
I'm okay somewhat with them being paranoid about defenseless rules or some special treatment of QBs cause sure whatever but at some point , people need to accept there is no safe way to play football unless tackling isn't allowed or somehow we find a way to make your brain immune to F=MA.
