I mean I am 23 years old and as long as I've been on this earth its been taught to me that way. So no...I dont think that they needed to be playing pewee football 4 years ago. It's been common practice for 15 years at a minimum.
"new" relative to the games longevity. Based on current NFL players careers, I would say at a minimum they have been learning this since their college ball days. I would expect only guys at or around 33 years of age or older to maybe be taught differently...but even still they should be getting revised training for the past 15 years.
