bolded part is the owners' "doomsday scenario" that they are taking exhaustive legal action to avoid.

Ugh, you're probably right. I guess the costs would rack up way quicker than I'd think, but they could do a half measure of covering only certain issues (brain related trauma or w/e). They could even dick anyone that showed preexisting signs (since that's what our country does to people lol), and it just seems like the overall hit they're going to take from viewership loses and bad PR would be less than biting the bullet, not to mention it'd raise player moral you would think. Maybe not, maybe they know if they gave up something like this they'd be fucked in the not so distant future to give up even more, creating a never ending cycle.

Ratings are down.

I pretty much just watch the cowboys and keep it moving these days.

They're trying to much to reinvent the wheel. Football is a mans game and they're involving politics and now making it so defenses can't play

everything is dropping ratings, people aren't paying for cable

NFL still dominated ratings

The NFL is way ahead of you cats

There's a reason it's been moving to a passing league

new rule states you can't lead with your head, which he barely did lol

New rule is shit ad your head is above your sholders so how can you tackle without leading with your head?
Like rugby players tackle its front on contact.

they are putting their heads DOWN

nobody will get flagged if their head is up

idk how many of you guys played football but they teach you from the beginning to square up and keep your head up.

Are you telling me that they instruct players to put their cervical spine in extension instead of keeping it neutral when they make contact with a 200+ pound guy running full force at them?

yes...heads up football is the new approach. See what you are going to hit and dont use your head/spine as a battering ram.

So you say it’s the new approach. So unless these guys were playing peewee football 4 years ago, they were never taught to tackle with their heads up

I mean I am 23 years old and as long as I've been on this earth its been taught to me that way. So no...I dont think that they needed to be playing pewee football 4 years ago. It's been common practice for 15 years at a minimum.

"new" relative to the games longevity. Based on current NFL players careers, I would say at a minimum they have been learning this since their college ball days. I would expect only guys at or around 33 years of age or older to maybe be taught differently...but even still they should be getting revised training for the past 15 years.
