good for you.

I can still have a NEGATIVE opinion on a movie if i'm seeing it at face value for the first time.

You don't pay attention to things. Whatever that's cool. Understandable why you like certain things.

I never said that I don't pay attention....

You have extremely poor reading comprehension.

BTW the confession video was Nolan's recorded confession.......you must have missed that part.
The "high 5" was the group insinuated as the top 5 highest scoring players......you must have missed that part.

pop culture references......throughout many decades, and not nearly all just "current"....you must have missed that part.

Obviously the confession is his recorded confession, but the problem is that literally never fucking happened in the movie.

Obviously the high 5 are the top of the score board, but they never explained it. He just fucking randomly said it. Literally all it takes is one line "they started calling the 5 of us the high 5 because of our position on the leaderboard" fucking 1.5 seconds.

Edit: also pretty great how in one scene z says how he is solo because clans are lame and then 5 minutes later he is cool with teaming up with arty, despite the fact that she literally just tried to ghost him in the previous scene.

Almost everything in the movie is "current' except the things pulled from the book (which don't count, as they are pulled from the book).

Not sure why you are still talking.

I will try to rewatch the movie tomorrow night before I add anything further to the conversation.

The book would have great potential creating an interesting world, but the movie totally missed his chance.
It's just one pop cultural referance after another, just like the book.
You don't root for any of these characters.
Could have been great but was actually terrible.

How can you complain about them changing the pop culture references for 'no reason' when it makes absolute sense to change them to current references

If you keep only references from the 80s how many people under the age of 40 do you think would have been interested in the movie? Using current references draws a way bigger audience in

The best part of this movie was the world that they created. They did a great job with the oasis it was by far the best part of the movie

You talk like the book wasn't written in 2011. Or like stranger things isn't a super successful 80s nostalgia show.

Getting people interested in older pop culture is part of the point...
