He’s signed through 2020, has had what like 10 TD’s in 2 years and they have a lot of other people that need to be signed lol

Why do people still overrate the fuck out of the TDs stat...

Guy had 1.8k yards... But single digit TDs wow so bad...

Wow. Makes perfect sense when you know that.Gotta give the guy credit, he understands how important it is to get that guaranteed money when you play a position that's impossible to stay elite at for long. Going to be weird if he walks, and i can't imagine him playing anywhere else.

I'm also curious if his unorthodox style of running will work with a different team, or if there's just something about Pitt that makes such a strange style so effective.

I'm thankful Pitt didn't hamstring itself with a ridiculously expensive offer. In all reality though, this deal was 33 mill guaranteed. They weren't going to cut him after 1 season. If they had just said 33 mill guaranteed (his first 2 years), bell might be signed and it would have left us with flexibility to get rid of the cap hit after 2 years if his production continues to decline. Bell turned it down on principle. He knew. He was going to get at least 33 mill for sure b4 they cut ties. But the official number was 10, which in his eyes was likely an insult.

10 million to the best player on your team, best rb in the league, and he's only 26. The Steelers could have offered the 33 million guaranteed, but they only guaranteed 10 million. The Steelers lost their best rb due to them being stupid. Yeah, he wants an outlandish amount of money, but if you're going to have a 10 mil, 33 mil, and 45 mil "deals" in place but only guarantee 10 mil, who in the fuck would accept that? He's getting paid next year and it won't be by the Steelers.

Agreed. They knew exactly what he wanted then made the 70 mil offer that wasn't anything close to what he wanted to make him look bad in the public eye. Just another example of the white man trying to keep the black man down.

It was a dick measuring contest between the two sides for sure. The way the deal was structured, the only way Bell wasn't getting 33 million guaranteed was if he gets suspended or severely injured this year. Pittsburgh could've just made the 33 million the official number and Bell might've signed, but they didn't.

I'm not mad at it. Bell's production efficiency has been decreasing each of the past two years. It's becoming more and more apparent that you can get legitimate starter production out of mid round rookies, and that teams that utilize committees at RB are keeping up with/surpassing performance of the stars such as Elliott, Gurley, Bell, Johnson,Fournette, etc. Hell...a 30++ year old Deangelo Williams filled in and put up Bell-esque production over the suspension games a couple of years ago.

Bell's as good as gone for next year, but if we prepare for it, I think everyone is going to be surprised at how minor the difference is. The public view is so skewed by fantasy football numbers that they are acting like we're going to turn into a bottom of the barrel team when Bell leaves.

Every stat matters especially when an employee with more than 2 years on his contract is wanting a raise. Especially when you have 2-3 other good employees needing to be paid soon or you lose them. Let Julio play through his contract see if he keeps producing good numbers at ages 30+31 and then look at paying him more money.

It's not about making the stat overrated it's just the fact that it is relevant.

It was a fucking dick move by the Steelers to even consider the 10 million guaranteed, considering he's fucking tagged making 14 million.

Steelers: sign this contract that could potentially make you 33-45 million, depending on how you play. Oh, but the kicker is, we're only going to pay you 10 million in guaranteed money, we know you're tagged for 14 million, but if you take this deal we'll keep you around so you can make more, barring any unforeseen injury or suspensions of course.

Todd Gurley’s new 4-year, $60M extension that includes $45M Gtd is the largest guarantee given to a running back, the largest per-year average for any running back, and gives other RBs such as David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott a new benchmark.

Ya... that's not cool. After Gurley's deal he's going to be seeing double dollar signs. I'm guessing he walks with a price like that being set for elite backs.
