Californian is the biggest money maker for the United States.

California carries it weight in the union. Can't say the same for most other states.

i think it's interesting how mad republicunts get over celebrities funding democratic CAMPAIGNS, while being completely ok with banks, fossil fuel, the nra, and big pharma buying republican POLICY.

one thing i've never been able to wrap my head around is how people can accuse scientists of lies for their own personal gain when they argue for one side of climate change based on government funded research while supporting the few scientists who receive money from big oil to to pedal junk science that goes against mainstream scientific research

I suppose it should stay. I'm a socialist at heart, so even if I think right wingers in red states are morons, I wouldn't want to take away all the money they need for their welfare states. California is the largest stream of federal revenue and takes less back than it gives, so it would really hurt our red brothers and sisters a lot if we pulled out.

I mean when we boil entire state populations to being either republican or democrat it's easy to come up with idiotic conclusions such as "us democrats are subsidizing the republican dumb dumbs".

In reality its the suburban populations of all states that subsidize the inner cities as well as rural america. Now i can't say it's the same in other parts of the country but here in western NY the rich suburbs tend to elect conservative governance. Between getting raped in property taxes, income taxes and a shit ton of other taxes they tend to lean conservative, at least from my experience.

While I do agree places in Cali, like LA, live in a bubble. I don't believe they should succeed from the U.S & from their own country simply because they have differential opinions

Well, if Cali is gonna become their own country, we'd best make allowances for growing all the food they produce....elsewhere...first.

that would benefit California
not the US
states like California are carrying the rest of the country

When government spending is a factor in GDP, it is disingenuous to us GDP-driven notions like "California is carrying the country.
