His gun may have been in the glovebox or in the trunk, that's not my point. You heard the officer say don't reach. If you're a cop, a guy says he has a gun, and then goes into his pocket, I might be a bit spooked and make a bad decision too.
Cop probably did the wrong thing, but I kinda get it. He should've just asked, do you want me to reach into my pocket to get my ID? That's what I do when I'm pulled over.
