When the PS3 came out and they hyped blu ray originally ppl said who cares about blu ray and now it's all anyone uses. Technology advancing never hurts so if they pack the power in and it is eventuslky used then who cares. People that say just get a pc don't realize that a pc this powerful would probably cost what...$1500?

The good thing about the X is that I think it should be around for awhile. 4K is just beginning to get popular and will probably take years before the next jump. It's been about what 10 years to jump from 1080 to 4k so it's doubtful in 2-3 years they need to make an even more powerful console. I know there is more to it then that but the X and to a less degree the pro are already ahead of the mass consumer with 4k,uhd and hdr so why make another console anytime soon

I agree, but at the time ps3 was hyping the blu-ray player, blu-ray themselves were near infancy and costing $30 each. Similar to 4k now. By the time blu-rays won the format war and actually proliferated the market, there were stand alone cheaper blu-ray players. It is something to consider.

I'm not ready to make the upgrade to these incremental consoles.
The 4k tv's I have my eye on are still too expensive.

I will be probably day one. I bought my 4k tv last year in anticipation of the X so as to split up the cost. Even without a 4k tv it does add other features to 1080p but id still say unless you have a 4k tv its probably not worth the investment

UHD player for my 4k tv

Gets certain releases 1 year+ before my PC and then it has certain console exclusives I would like to play and has decent enough hardware to actually do 4k games. I literally just was making the point that I would be willing to pay more money for a SSD option which THERE is a market for.

UHD players are like 249.99 anyways.

I understand what you're trying to say. The people that have the iphone 6 and go pay 800 dollars 1 year later for the iphone 6s etc etc.

/edit

Especially enjoy seeing people that are Playstation guys laugh about the price tell you point out the fact the PS4 pro released $100 cheaper with no initial 4k capabilities lol

Every generation of console for the last while whether it is xbox or playstation was 299-499 on release day.

At least this console is respectable in every hardware department you want except the hard drive

Does this console finally include audio codecs to support good usb /wireless 7.1 Surround? having to plug a headset into the controller is quite inconvenient.
and its 2017.. did Microsoft finally build a battery into our controllers so we don't have to swap them out or pay for them separately?

I'm Xbox as well, but Sony has done things better for quite some time. I mean PS3 had their own wireless 7.1 Headset...you didn't have to spend 400$ on A50 TBS. that was more than 5 years ago... zero competition from Microsoft's end.

Rechargeable battery for the controller is subjective. Both have their advantages.

well the lack of audio codecs from Microsoft is quite pathetic.

and I still kind of see it one sided... you either buy cheap batteries and keep replacing them which just costs more money... or you put a rechargeable pack or batteries in... and keep recharging... which the ps4 controller already comes with but Microsoft makes you pay for additionally.

I was PS3/4 for a long time before switching to xbox.. I switched to xbox because my new place of work is full of people that use XBOX.

I installed a 500GB SSD directly into my ps4 console, it did not void the warranty.. the headphone selection for quality/price is 10-1 on xbox including (wireless 7.1) Games bought from the store on PS are not tax applicable, where Microsoft nails you for everything.

I do prefer the feel of the xbox controller over the PS4, I enjoy the XBOX OS for navigating, but Sony has done it right in every other way for along longer.

What does the console need audio codecs for when the majority of people use a media server that transcodes?
