If you're buying Kabylake-X or Skylake-X and aren't interested in the extra PCIe lanes, then you're an idiot and you're wasting money.

If you're buying Kabylake-X or Skylake-X and don't care that Intel is fucking you out of your money by restricting how many lanes you have access to unless you spend $1000, then you're an idiot and you're wasting money.

Everyone will be affected because everyone who goes with X299 is getting fucked by Intel equally. Whether or not they're gonna actually use the lanes isn't the issue. The issue is you're buying a $400+ processor and $300+ motherboard and your motherboard is feature limited because you didn't buy the $1000 processor. It's a joke.

and now x299 will have 24x gen3 from just the chipset
anyone spending 850 on either will have enough pcie lanes
