2 miles today and chest

5x10 @ 67.5%, amrap was 17

Did some accessory work like bb rows, cable rows, skull crushers, front raises and db curls.

Had a dr appt last Friday to follow up my lab work and I got some kind of upsetting news.. Apparently I have high bp. My doc said that there’s nothing I could change in my lifestyle to lower it and ended up putting me on hctz. Doesn’t really bug me that I’m taking hctz, but it just sucks that my bp is elevated.

I think next cut down after I’m done with this JTS cycle, I’m just going to sustain around 180 for my health.

Geez clanging weights around like an asshole, interrupting the woman's buisness meeting going on down the hall. Lucky that guy wasn't there to kick your bar down and bully you

Bench today, feeling stronger daily.

165 for 5x10, last set was 13 reps.. Did a shit load of shoulder and back work with some triceps thrown in the mix.

Weight loss is proven to lower your bp more than any other lifestyle change

What was your bp?

I know, that’s why I said I was going to get to 180 and maintain, lol.

I had 3 readings months apart of 140/70, high enough to be concerned. I bought an auto bp measurer at home and I keep track. It’s actually not too bad, typically ranges from 105-120/50-70

lmaoooooo

there were new HTN guidelines with more restrictive requirements published late last year (obviously they were passed bc empiric evidence proved better outcomes with more restrictive values). if that was your bp both times you would barely be "pre" HTN based on the old guidelines. additionally, if you're measuring normal at home it could be whitecoat HTN. but by the new definition of HTN (>130/80 on 2 separate occasions) you do qualify. i bet if you get your BMI under 25/bf% better, you'll pass without taking that ACE (DISCLAIMER: listen to your doctor ofc).

Short term ramifications of my bp are inconsequential. But having a systolic pressure above 130 for a long period of time is a sure fired way of complications down the road. And honestly, Id run if my doc tried prescribing an ACE before trying hctz.

And I agree, I guarentee that if my bf% was lower, it wouldn’t be an issue. But than I wouldn’t be fluffy and funky “obv joke”

Yeah... kind of alarming that the doc said you couldn't change anything.

I'd recommend a new doc.
