there were new HTN guidelines with more restrictive requirements published late last year. if that was your bp both times you would barely be "pre" HTN based on the old guidelines. additionally, if you're measuring normal at home it could be whitecoat HTN. but by the new definition of HTN (>140/80 on 2 separate occasions) you do qualify. i bet if you get your BMI under 25/bf% better, you'll pass without taking that ACE (DISCLAIMER: listen to your doctor ofc).
Short term ramifications of my bp are inconsequential. But having a systolic pressure above 130 for a long period of time is a sure fired way of complications down the road. And honestly, Id run if my doc tried prescribing an ACE before trying hctz.
And I agree, I guarentee that if my bf% was lower, it wouldn’t be an issue. But than I wouldn’t be fluffy and funky “obv joke”
