Hopefully you can pull of a Sunderland!

Results from our opponents have been great for us yesterday and today. The dream lives on (for now) :D

Tough game away against Atlético tomorrow. Let's see if we can somehow scrap a point.

3-0 defeat

bs game, tbh. We didn't play bad, but everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Our CB made a very stupid penalty.... our keeper saved it... but the ref said it had to be retaken because one of our players entered the box (right decision, but ffs, that really hurt us).

Then we conceded a stupid goal during the first half's injury time. And towards the end of the match, we conceded a third one by deflecting an easy shot.

All this, while otherwise playing pretty decently and creating chances that we just couldn't get in.

Huge 3 points.

Vardy scored his 100th and 101st premier league goal. Some achievement that. Hopefully gives us the confidence to press on. :D

Huge 3 points for Mallorca yesterday, after beating Levante 2-0.

With 3 games to go, we're 3-4 points from safety. It's not impossible, but it's going to be hard. The next game will be a tough visit to Sevilla's stadium... hope we can surprise and snatch a point (or maybe even 3 :D ), but it's obviously not the most likely outcome.

We could theoretically relegate during this upcoming gameweek (saturday-monday), if we loose and 4 other teams win their games, but that would be a really messed up combination of results.

In other news, Espanyol releated after 26 years in Primera... it will be weird having a season without a Barcelona derby.

Espanyol rarely competes for titles (although they have won 4 Copas, reached 2 EL finals, and finished 3rd in La Liga on four occasions), but they've only ever missed out on 4 seasons of topflight football, since the league was established in 1928-29.

They've always a been a consistent mid-table team... so them relegating is actually quite the news here, even if they had been flirting with relegation for some time over the past years.

Mallorca lost 2-0 against Sevilla. Combined with Eibar's and Leganes' unexpected victories, this is a huge blow for the team.

With Espanyol relegated, there are now 4 teams contesting for survival. This is what the table looks like now, and the remaining fxtures:

16º. Celta (36 points): Levante (home), Espanyol (away).

17º Alavés (35 points): Getafe (home), Betis (away), Barcelona (home).

18º Leganés (32 points): Athletic (away), Real Madrid (home).

19º Mallorca (32 points): Granada (home), Osasuna (away).

Celta has by far the easiest calendar, as they will face two opponents that have nothing to fight for, while Leganés has the hardest by far (although they could face an already champion Madrid in the last game). Alavés has an easy game against an already secure Betis, and two hard ones against an EL candidate Getafe and Barcelona (although, like in Alavés' case, the title contending team might reach the last game with nothing to fight for).

Meanwhile, Mallorca's games are tricky, and might be easy or not. Granada might have a serious shot at EL, depending on what happens in tonight's games. Same thing goes for Osasuna... they have a remote chance of contesting EL, but it they'll need favourable results to reach the last game with something to fight for.

Over all, I feel like Mallorca's chances are very grim. We need to secure 6 points, and hope that Celta or Alavés fuck up in an unexpected way.

Decisive game for Mallorca today: if we lose, it's over.

We need to beat Granada, which have a very remote chance of making it to EL. Even if we win, we would still relegate if Alavés and Celta both win their games against Betis and Levante respectively. A draw would also seal the deal unless Alavés and Celta both lose, and Leganés doesn't win.

All of the games will be played at 9pm local time, and will set the stage for the final gameweek on Sunday. Hopefully we still have a chance of survival at that point.

It won't be easy, because both Celta and Alavés are facing opponents that have nothing to fight for... so them dropping points would be a surprise. Our best hope is that at least Alavés fail to win, as they would face Barcelona in the next game, which in theory should be a tough game.

In any case, all Mallorca can do is focus on trying to beat Granada tonight. Let's go!
