So I ended up walking into my local tackle/bait shop this afternoon and after talking to them for almost 2 hours I walked out with 2 new setups.
For rods I ended up with a Dobyns FURY FR 734C for the bait caster and a Dobyns FURY FR 702SF for the spinning.
For reels I ended up with a Shimano SLX151HG for the bait caster and a Daiwa REVLT2500-XH for spinning.
They both feel very comfortable in my hand and now I just need the rain to calm down a little bit here in the south bay area in california to hit the water.

with how much you spent for your 2 rods
I would have look for a single rod to see if you could get a much better kit that could have done it all
