patrick+myers for ryan ellis
sucks to lose myers and maybe patrick but pretty sick to have ellis and one of them would likely have been exposed this solves the expansion draft issue whlie picking up a d man for provorov
im thinking this for our protection list
giroux
hayes
couts
konecny
jvr-media is saying he will be protected and should be he was our best player last season
laughton
lindblom
farabee over lindblom if hes eligible i dont remember dont think he is
provorov
ellis
sanheim
hart

leaving these guys exposed
voracek
aube-kubel
ghost
braun
hagg

and its expected with hakstol the ex flyers coach the krakens coach he will want to get voracek

"This is a contract year for him, and there may have been a little bit of uncertainty as to what his role would have been with this club this year. It allowed us to make the cap work. I think for him, it gives him an opportunity to hopefully play more minutes in a very important year for his career. He was a heart and soul guy. He blocked shots. He killed penalties. He was a very popular teammate and somebody that earned the respect of everybody in the organization. Certainly, I want to thank Robert for his time here and for his contributions. I hope he has a great season in Buffalo and is able to come up with a nice contract going forward,"

fletcher on hagg...sounds like he wanted more $$ then they were willing to offer and possibly more mins so that made him expendable
he should be able to get them in buffalo^^

Read The Athletic article on this trade. Dom gave the flyers a grade of F minus and Sean Gentile gave it a grade of J because F wasn't close to bad enough

Dom is an analytics guy, and I dont know much about Sean's background.

Either way, it's hard to find anyone with any hockey knowledge who thinks this wasn't a disaster, esp after the flyers overpay risto in terms of dollars and term and regret it for 5+yrs.

most of the people i see thinking this is a bad trade are big stat guys because his stats in buffalo are terrible
and will the flyers overpay him? the guy might be happy to be on a playoff team he might want to stick around and do so for a fair amount and hes 26 even if they give him term hes not 30+

but most of the stat guys are like look at his stats and that hell the same guys are saying ghost had better stats then him terrible trade rah rah
but you dont think risto on the flyers on a 2nd pair vs the sabers 1st pair isnt going to get better looking stats? how do you think ghosts stats would be on the sabers 1st pair?

im not that worried if that many gms were offering 1st rounder+ for him clearly they think hes a pretty good player and id say multiple nhl gms and their staff know better then some random athletic stats guys
