Juolevi signs for 1 year @ 750K

Wonder if it was him or management that wanted a short contract.

Either way he hasn't proven to be a full time NHLer so he shouldn't get term.

I agree.

He is lucky to be on a team with bottom tier defense.

This will be his chance to prove he can be a regular.

Mostly him. Not worth accepting a qualifying offer for 1 or 2 yrs, and being a 2 way deal. He not only has to beat out Rathbone, but also hunt now at camp who has a 800k cap.

He took less in a way, when he could've made 900k if he accepted his qualifying offer. However he's making more because if he gets sent down to the minors or plays in the NHL, he will be making 750k flat.

Smart move by him, and win win for both sides.

As much as I wanna see Rathbone make the team, I feel like hunt will be the 3rd LD. Rathbone is waiver exempt, and he would benefit playing like 20 to 25min a night in the AHL to develop further as a 1d.

Hunt is a nhl dman and hasn't played in the AHL for like half a decade, so I won't be surprised if he makes the team. Juolevi would be sitting in press and rotating in and out.

16.2m to sign Petey and Hughes.

Ideally, locking up Hughes would be nice. 8.3 x 8yr or something or ~7.5m x 6 to buy 1 UFA year.

Petey will probably be a bridge, 7.5 x 3 or maybe try for 5 yrs.

I think the Barzal makes the most sense for Pettersson (3 x 7M).

No idea on Hughes. Didn't have an amazing season last year so I'm not sure his camp is willing to sign a long-term deal based on that.

From their camps' POV, it makes sense to take short term deals as the team is (hopefully) on the rise, which means better production/stats/performance all around that they can cash in on.

I would actually prefer that, Benning can instantly match it and move onto Hughes.

Yeah the closest comparable is barzal, but Petey outperformed him already being younger, moving from wing to 1c straight from the get go and being in a joke team like the Canucks while the Islanders really turned it around. Barzal also had a season worth of development behind Tavares, Petey didnt have that luxury. Also the disastrous season the Canucks had recently. I'd be ecstatic if Benning can sign him to a 7x3 bridge, although I think it's more like a starting point.

Barzals elc production: gp 232, 59g, 148a for 207pts. 0.89/pt per game
Petey elc production: gp 165, 65g, 88a for 153 pts. 0.93/pt per game

Hughes agent said they're looking at term for Hughes and bridge for Petey. He had a rough year last season, but no question his ofd is worth 8.5m avv. If we bridge him, the next contract will probably be much more. I think adding oel to the team will also greatly benefit Hughes, and most likely make myers less effective.

I'd love to see simultaneous offersheets on Hughes and Petey both at around 8mil, Canucks would only be able to match/keep 1.

Go Dorion!

Sens and NJ should agree to offersheet 1 of each, may the lucky team get their player
