I didn't want to derail Liverpool's thread, but Madrid has complied with all of the rules since FFP was established, so there's that. Furthermore, the whole "ridiculously crooked land deal of 2000" is often used as anti-Madrid propaganda without knowing the whole history. It was something that the city and region both wanted to do too, and they greatly profited from it.
The land had been labeld as "grounds for sporting use only" by Franco's regime, and that had become completely obsolete by the end of the century, due to the capital's demographic explosion. It was bad for everyone to have such a large amount of land without making any profit from it, so the city of Madrid, the region of Madrid and Real Madrid, reached an agreement to change the status of the land. The city paid a lot of money, but then sold their share to banks for hundreds of millions, which was good for everyone. It made sense from a financial perspective, and that's why the European Comission dropped the investigation in 2004 and why even the far-left party of IU backed the move, despite being in the opposition.
Madrid won 8 CLs before Florentino, and had won that year's CL without him too. The grandeur of the club has been earned on the pitch for many decades, and it's logical that attracts sponsors and builds trust among creditors... yet everything is done according to the rules and complying with the financial obligations. While I can understand you prefering other club models, you can't put it on the same tier as money printin clubs, like you did with Chelsea, a club who went from being a mid table club to a european powerhouse because a russian oligarch dumped massive amounts of cash on them for no reason (it could just as easily have been Aston Villa or whatever).
