Turns out that all the FBI has to do to invent a crime is say that you lied to them, even if they have proof that what you said is true. And then you don't get a trial, you don't get presumption of innocence, you don't get legal representation. The judge says your lawyers "could" be trying to commit a crime and use that baseless accusation made with zero evidence to lock you up. And all the while the ACLU will stand passively by and whistle a fun little tune.
